When I first started using this product, I noticed that it shed tiny shards, which worried me as they might end up in my food. So I emailed the manufacturer and they told me to sand the cutting boards and use mineral oil. While I expected to eventually have to oil my boards, I didn't expect to have to finish them myself. Brand new boards should not require this. Even after sanding and oiling, the board still feels pretty rough and I'm concerned that chipping might still occur. only used once!).

They are designed for everyday use, which means daily cleaning/disinfection. They're also the best for the planet and inexpensive. Because I air dry them, it's nice that they dry quickly, and since they're never cleaned, I'm glad they're attractive!

I wanted to wait a few weeks after purchase before leaving my review. These cutting boards are amazingly affordable and have exceeded expectations. I really like the range of sizes and love that I have to pull out a giant board for small items. My favorite is the smallest cheese block board that can be used right on the coffee table while watching TV or entertaining guests. Excellent cutting boards, good size and not too heavy. However, make sure you buy food grade mineral oil and seal each of the boards as soon as you receive them. I made one of the cutting boards but not the other two. The two I didn't seal were warped and cracked, but the one I sealed is fine.
