Great for exhaust

Great tool, works great. I used it to make tubes for my tractor. The tubes I received were the same size from one diameter to the other. They should be the outside diameter of the same inner tube of the next tube. In any case. I covered all the moving/touching parts of the instrument with red and sticky Lucas and then started stretching the tube. I used a wrench as these tools are not designed to be pounded. Use a wrench, lubricate well, and work slowly and steadily. and it will last.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Quick start guide

Wide range of sizes and value for money

I used this to straighten the ends of a large pipe and it worked quite well with my large impact wrench. Satisfied with the price of the kit. Be sure to lubricate threads and sliding surfaces before use and regularly. I used some thick grease instead of the tube that came with it. The kit includes extra O-rings to hold the parts together. The hull is fine.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Not sure

A good tool, but with an annoying bug.

The tool gives you a good upgrade without the thousands of devices that muffler repair shops use. However, there is one major problem with expanding a 2 inch OD pipe. The smallest set of collets will not expand enough to give you a true 2" ID and the next size starts at 2" and will not fit the pipe. It's impossible to expand a 2" OD tube unless you get creative and wrap a few layers of aluminum foil around the small collet.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Weight

Disaster Averted: Exhaust Pipes and Tips

This tool did exactly what it needed to do, expanding sections of pipe so I could customize them bit by bit and finally creating the exhaust I made that the one I got obviously didn't work. It looked like a return that someone had NOT lubricated before being hit with a hammer so bad some threads were broken and badly damaged. I was finally able to electrocute the damn thing, clean the threads, and apply some ARP grease. It worked wonders and after some tweaking it felt serviceable. I recommend…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Hard to tell

He ended up doing what I wanted

I had a muffler with a clip on the exit, it was pretty bad. I tried tapping it out by hand with a large hammer and a 2" rod and flattening the exhaust port, but couldn't get the exhaust pipe into the muffler. I even cut the rosette in hopes it would move a little better but it didn't work. So I broke down and bought this. I had to use multiple dies as it was 4 inches and I had to readjust the tool every time I wanted to rotate the tool doesn't sound like much but I had to with a hammer hitting…

  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • So far so good

Worth every penny! good for exhaust and emissions

I don't write many reviews but this tool is worth its weight in gold if you're doing exhaust or pipe work. YES it is made for exhaust, people who say it is not misunderstand how this very simple tool works and what it is for. TIP: It won't turn your 2" pipe into a 2.5" or 3" pipe. rzunimag. I mean think about it for a minute, the pipe would snap if it expanded that far .You MUST, MUST use the included lubricant if you plan on long life for this tool, otherwise it will be destroyed prematurely…

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • almost never

Works well - when assembled correctly.

TL:DR – Works great with hand tools when properly fitted. Won't withstand an impact wrench. (Original - 9 Sep 2021, 4 Stars) As I said in the title, it works great when assembled properly. I've been spoiled by the hydraulic expander in the past, so changing dies/collets to go from one size to another is a nuisance. However, it works fine. He doesn't really like 14g tubes, but he will. I didn't use a percussion gun. Just a wrench or socket/ratchet. If you don't have a 28mm handy, 1-1/8" will do.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Available in Black Only
