The Tork bit broke on first use. wave at the exchange.

Tork bit broke on first use. the shaft on the change stand is slightly larger. Had to remove the pins a bit as stated elsewhere. After all that, it served its purpose. I would not buy again. would rent it.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Didn't fit my Lumina

Didn't fit my 1999 Lumina for some reason. I had to drill holes in the custom strut nut to install the tool and the sprocket didn't fit the top of the strut. I don't know if my car is exceptional, what's the matter, but the tool is of no value to me. Might work well for others.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • unreliable

Works great on a 1998 Monte Carlo Z34

Overall this worked great replacing the A-pillar inserts on a 1998 Monte Carlo Z34. All you have to do is slightly loop the 2 tabs inside the ring so it slides over the post rod and post body. But don't grind them up, make sure they're no longer snagging on the associated rod.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Some minor things

As other reviews have mentioned, the tool did not match the aftermarket racks I purchased as a replacement. Upon further investigation, it was found that the bosses that hold and drive the bushing were protruding excessively, taking up space for the piston rod. About twenty minutes with a good file solved the problem and the tool now works with all spacer cartridges. The rest of the product fared well.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Racks are easy to remove and install if you have the right ones.

If you are building luggage racks on a GM W body (mine was a 1997 Chevy Lumina) you MUST have this tool. Racks are easy to remove and install if you have the right tools. Not included in this kit but a great help is a 24mm offset socket (OTC 7544) for the nut at the top of the rack. Sometimes they come out with a bang, most of the time they don't. With this set you get a torx bit to hold the strut shaft but no socket wrench to turn the nut.

  • Weight

Spent a lot of time grinding, calibrating, grinding and...

This tool needed a bit of a retool before I could use it. The two locking pins that held and held the headgear were long enough that they had to be cut off. It was necessary to remove all of the powder coating from the pins on the end of the tool before using the tool. Spent a lot of time grinding, calibrating, grinding and calibrating. After all the extra work was done, it worked reasonably well, although the ratchet end wasn't too strong. It broke the second time the strut retainer was…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Works with some work

It works but had to modify for my racks. You will probably need to file the two inner pins 1/16" or more or the bushing will not slide on the shaft. After I did that, it worked great. Another user noticed this issue, so I expected it to show up and used a flat file to adjust it. The piston rod on many struts is slightly larger than the area between the inner bolts, probably because it was made for smaller struts. The stem that attaches to the bushing was a fairly similar size to the piston stem

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • Clarity
