🔧 Brake Tool Set - 8 Piece OTC 6516, in Black Review

Pretty good tool kit if you are a mechanic and occasionally drunk brake. My favorite part is the pliers, they make the feathers much lighter, the product was delivered earlier than expected. Wouldn't recommend if you use drum brakes on a daily basis as I'm not sure how long this kit will last but so far it's working great.

Rating would be 5 stars but product is cheaper available from other companies. It is identical to the much cheaper set sold as Astro Pneumatic. The quality is stable. A very good set for anyone dealing with drum brakes. The inflated case is a bit big. I would buy again but under a cheaper name.

Great set for almost all drum brake tools you need. Your parking brake is mostly just a drum in the rear rotors. So if you thought you didn't need them because you have disc brakes, think again. I just used it on my buddy's Jeep JK and it's a great set. If you own a classic car, you definitely need drum brake tools. Trust OTC!

I gave this 3 stars as it definitely looks well built. I was hoping that replacing the drum brakes on a 2013 Honda Civic would become less of a show of force, but I didn't find a single tool in this kit that could be used. So the 3 star rating is because they didn't describe the product well enough to let me know that it's made more for the old style drum brakes I was working on when I was young and which tend to have a round spring mount than have a pen and clip. "High quality pens" smell strongly of urine due to the gas released from the plastic. I'm really not sure what's so high quality about these grips because the tools go into them at an angle, specifically the 519196-3 Brake Spring Remover (it's a curved tool with a handle). Since I can't post photos, I measured angles of 3 degrees and 4.5 degrees in two directions (with a flat grip on two different sides). It might not be an exact tool, but come on, seriously? This drum brake tool kit is a very good starter set containing the most common tools needed for drum brake maintenance. Of course, I have a few different controllers for custom brake systems, but for the average user, you can definitely use them to service drum brakes on your car, pickup, or trailer. With most cars now fitted with 4 wheel disc brakes many of these tools are obsolete but if you have an older car or trailer with drum brakes this kit is great for changing and adjusting the brake shoes. You can do without a vise and normal pliers, but these tools make the job a lot easier. I've seen sets like this twice as expensive. The quality of this set is quite good.
