Much needed tool for Ford 3V

You will definitely need this tool when replacing timing components on Ford 3V engines. The forks bend fairly easily if you misalign the valve spring. They are easy to bend with pliers, keep them handy as you will be using them a few times. When removing the original 6 roller tappets to neutralize the cams, I had a hard time with the exhaust valve on cylinder 8. I had to install and reinstall the tool 5 or 6 times before I realized I could just spin the motor to take more pressure off the…

Great - make sure you have enough room near the heads

The tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. My only complaint is that there needs to be more threading on the moving sleeve to make it a little easier to engage the compression part. I was in the perfect position, but I had to tilt my foot backwards to catch the threads and then move my foot back into a better position. Another thread would make it redundant. I found this much more important for the lower side springs. The tool MUST get caught on this, otherwise it will simply fall apart…

Needed to safely remove these rocker arms

No major problems using this tool to remove the rocker arm from a 5.4 liter 3v engine to pull out the camshafts and the engine after the Installation of a new timing set to reset. It was a bit difficult to figure out at first, but luckily the engine gives us 24 ways to use it to uninstall AND 24 more ways to reinstall! Hooray! 2 caveats from my personal experience. 1. Be sure to squeeze the rocker arm on top of the valve stem while compressing the spring to avoid losing the valve. With advance…

5.4 liter phaser replacement

This unit takes some getting used to. Replaced the phaser on the 5.4L engine. Fordtechmakeuloco walkthrough viewed on YouTube. Here are a few points to help when trying to replace the phaser. Spend money on an OTC instrument. I bent the tool's leg a couple of times, but it seems much stronger than other devices. 2. While depressing the spring, pause every 2-3 turns and push the valve stem down. Sometimes you don't press hard enough with your fingers and the valve stem stays up slightly. I used…
