QUALITY TOOL in Ball Joint & Drag Link Tools

Essential adapter when changing upper ball joints on a 2003 Toyota Tundra. I used only one adapter, the second one for Honda cars.

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Vulgarity

01 Toyota Tundra for ball joint and tie rod tools

Needed to replace the upper ball joints on 01 Tundra. I rented a kit from Autozone and tried all sorts of options but couldn't find anything. I still needed the Autozone kit, but I couldn't have done it without it.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Has disadvantages

Required for Toyota/Honda ball joints.

If you have a 1st generation Tundra and are looking to replace your upper ball joints these are the tools you need. No ball joint removal kits are supplied with the required adapters. I just replaced mine and I couldn't have done it without this tool.

Pros
  • Handy Part
Cons
  • Big and Bulky

One adapter is already rusted

This product came with a rusted adapter. It looks like it has already been used. I was expecting a new product so I'm disappointed. It still seems serviceable, I just don't like getting a used product when I'm paying for a new one. The adapters feel good and heavy. Appears to be good quality. The other adapter looked brand new, well oiled and rust free.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Out of style

Hours Prevented

OTC Kit 6733 Asian Car Ball Joint Adapter Used on 2001 Toyota Tacomoa Prerunner 4x2. Without this kit I would have wasted a lot more hours than I've already spent. Just buy one or make sure the ball joint press you are using is the right size. Use it on!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Very Expensive

The bottom line is that it works. Hardly!

As the name suggests, the product works although there is a risk of damaging the main instrument. When I used the Toyota adapter in combination with my own OTC 7249 Ball Joint Removal Tool, I was only able to get half the engagement threads. I realized that there would be a great risk of stripping the first thread if I had to apply torque to it on that first half of the thread. I really had to get the job done so reluctantly I continued, and to my surprise the tool didn't break. I would give…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Upgradeable
