Large Piston Caliper Slider

I used it on my 2012 Infiniti FX50 which has four piston calipers. Take one side of the pads and install the pistons with this tool. Makes work easier and faster

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Some trouble

Spreader for disc brake pads.

Definitely not the most popular caliper piston retractor but it does the job perfectly. It's well constructed and much less cumbersome to use than the C-Clip. My only downside is that I wish the pivot screw was a bit longer, but other than that it works great.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Upgrades

Extremely useful for tools and equipment

I bought this spreader for my shop and I have no regrets. We use it for all 4 or 6 piston calipers. Simply remove the caliper from the vehicle with the pads still in the caliper, place a tool between the pads and spread them apart. Every toolbox should have something like this.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Great tool! in Tools & Equipment

I'm so glad I waited until I found THIS brake tool instead of a bulky sprocket on a long piece of threaded brake tool. And I wish I had bought it 30 years ago. back and saved a lot of hassle with the combination of a large C-clamp and a solid oak block. This tough little tool: Compact. Continuous. Very functional.

Pros
  • Pleased
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great tool for decades!

I've been using one of these for decades and love the ease of use and compactness of this tool. Just make sure you install new pads in the caliper first, as this is sometimes necessary to push the pistons back far enough to get them over the rotor. I also open the bleed valve when I'm pushing the pads apart to let the old fluid out of the caliper. Remember to tighten the bleed screw before removing the tool so you don't suck air back into the caliper. Not everyone does this, and they haven't…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Only available in white

Works great, good quality

This product works great and makes changing brake pads a lot easier. First, it's well done. Because there are no sharp edges, you're unlikely to scratch brake pistons or discs. It also requires a lot less effort than using a C-clamp. The only problem is that you run the pads very low, so there is very little clearance between the disc and piston. When fully closed, this expander may not be thin enough to fit between you. In that case, you'll have to use something else to free up disk space…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Works well with 4-piston calipers

I chose this option because I'm constantly changing road and track pads from the 4-piston calipers I have on my front wheels. Compressing the pistons on them has always been a big problem and it works better than anything I've used before. This is a high quality, very reliable tool; not thin at all. I really like the design of the scissors. . . It's simple and effective - way better than the ratchet spreader I bought (totally useless). It's important to be very precise with how you position it,

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
