Description of OTC 7311A Pitman Arm Puller

This puller is designed for the toughest pitman arm jobs. Adjustable and have rugged forged jaws shaped to fit the job. Two clamp bolts lock the jaws on the pitman arm ensuring a solid grip. Includes an adapter for added versatility and both pullers cover a variety of pulling jobs. For cars and light trucks with a maximum jaw spread is 2-1/8 inches.

Works great with small joints!

Worked great to separate the intermediate arm (BMW E38) from the tie rod which was too small for a standard fixed arm puller. I thought the hold down bolt reach was too short, it only had about 3 threads to push through. He separated the joint about 1.5 turns after tightening with his fingers. I tightened the screws covering the jaws with a wrench to make sure they wouldn't slip off. My fixed jaw puller bent and slipped off. None of the pullers in my cheap front end service kit from the online…

It can withstand great forces.

Working on a 46 year old car. I'll most likely be the first to attempt to remove Pitman's arm. Some SiliKroil and this tool removed it. Not sure when I'll ever use it again, too bad they don't have a tool lending program. They make heavy and heavy versions. The only thing I don't like, and I'm pretty sure I don't, is Revain. But they don't give you good measurements of this tool. It was easy to tell the heavy-duty version was bigger, but how much bigger? Is it wider and taller than this? My…

Transverse (clamping) screws too weak

ATTENTION - Transverse screws are too weak for large jobs! I used this to remove the tie rod from my F250 and the wing nut cross bolts are only grade 2 (if any). They probably match small arms, but the Super Duty arms are the largest this puller can handle. The wing nuts were right on the ends of the bolts' threads, and the force stretched and bent the bolts so the jaws began to slip out. Luckily I was watching closely or he might pop out and rearrange my dental work (or worse). I reinstalled…
