I had a couple of bikes that needed the chain replaced so I bought this tool. Although I had never replaced a bike chain or used such a tool, with the tools it was very simple and easy to break the chain and put a new one on. I don't plan on using them very often, but they were just what I needed to replace my bike chains.

Too bad it didn't come with more detailed instructions on how to use the tools. had to go to youtube to do some research on usage. The links are very thin and hardly stick to each other. I ended up with a huge gash in my leg trying to "kick" her with the front pedals with the brakes on. Then I figured out how to use the tool. live and learn.

Reviews seem arbitrary. The quality of the instruments is decent, which is reflected in the price. They work great if you take your time and use them properly. I broke my current chain and resized the new chain with a chain breaker and it worked fine, but you need to position the chain correctly in the tool. I am happy with them and I think if they are taken care of they last more than long enough to be worth the price. Recommend.

They are perfect, the rubberized handle and the wide turning knob make all the difference in the world. If someone had taken the time and properly aligned the button with the chain link, breaking the actual pin needed to separate the chain link would not have been a problem. Otherwise, you will find yourself using extra strength and force and eventually breaking the pin you need the most. Be careful, set it up and it will work effortlessly. Definitely worth it

I bought this kit not knowing if I would need everything in the kit. Turns out all I needed was a pin removal/installation tool and a couple of spare chains. Ordered to work on 7 speed bikes, 2 TREKs and 1st Specialized. The chain tool worked perfectly. The quick links for the 7 speed chains were unusable because they were all too narrow. I put a gauge on them and they measured 6.7mm at their widest point. All 3 chains were actually 7.0mm. I had to pick up a suitable link from my local bike shop (it was a KMC brand).
