Better than Mate2, that's for sure!

This is a good control/user interface for your Outback Power devices. I haven't had much trouble replacing my Mate2 with this Mate3 - just unplug the old one and plug in the new one (and don't forget to reprogram all the Mate features - your inverter, charge controller, etc. will remain). The UI is a little clunky, but it works. The device has a built-in web server that you can access from your private intranet: it looks like you can only use it to view the status and settings. Unfortunately…

Not user friendly and not a stand alone product.

The Mate 3s system cannot function properly without a communications hub, a $250 router to connect to more than one component, and must be programmed by a skilled electrician or engineer will . While Outback is a well-respected provider of solar energy, they lag far behind the industry when it comes to system performance reports. This product's user interface is unintuitive, difficult to understand and the display is too complex for the average end user. They need a software developer to…

Off grid for 8 years and wish we had it sooner!

Mate worked fine. We replaced our old oval helper with this one. I found this new model much easier to navigate. Especially when settings and such are updated online. With RE optics there is no reason to ever use a buddy per se. It's nice to wake up and just look at your phone to see how many solar panels are being sent to our batteries. As the title says, we've been offline for over 8 years. By self-sufficient I mean that we get 100% of our energy from either solar panels or a generator. In…

Cons
  • No power

Having used the Power Mate 3 for about a year, I can say that I have a lot of good things to say about it in terms of increasing the functionality of the devices already installed. But I bought the Mate 3 (unlike the younger models) for the ability to stream online and control my devices from anywhere. In this he failed miserably. The ethernet port stopped working after my first update (the ethernet processor firmware was never updated and stayed at a previous version that was out of sync with…

Upgrade my solar OUTBACK flex shaft

Great product needed to upgrade my old equipment. I am very happy with the supplier and the delivery time and packaging method was very safe which is a problem when ordering electronics.
