Breaks down into food

Warning. This pepper mill falls apart, dropping its internal metal parts into the food. It just happened to me for the second time. When in doubt, I agreed with him the first time. It just went in the trash. Look elsewhere for a better coffee grinder and read the reviews carefully. I just realized I'm far from the first person this has happened to.

Short lived poorly constructed

Lasted 10 months with little use. A few months ago it became difficult to shoot, but today it didn't work at all. The first one I bought lasted a couple of years so I bought a second one. I won't buy a third one. Addendum: Disassembled a broken coffee grinder and figured out why it failed. The grinder is actually pretty decent quality below the point where the handle attaches to the metal shaft, but the handle is all plastic. A metal sleeve in the handle (at the point of attachment) would have…

What offer! in Salt & Pepper

Having owned a few 'upscale' pepper mills for the past 20+ years this little gem beats them all. It's easy to use, relatively easy to fill, and allows you to get a large batch of ground pepper quickly. The roughness setting is at the bottom and stays in place. Ceramic grindstones guarantee no rust, even if you use them for salt, which quickly destroys steel mills. We used to have to buy ground pepper if we needed more than a tablespoon or two to make sausages. This little beauty is easily…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Good but not great

Grinds well. Spills Pepper BETTER! I bought two. Both have the same problems. The plastic refill cap is too big, too loose and in the wrong place to tighten the large grinder handle. You push the door and peppercorns fly everywhere. And at the very bottom is a flexible bar that adjusts the grind level. Forget precision! Just find a place you're okay with and leave it alone. To tell the truth I can't tell much difference from one place to another. Only gross or subtle. I just can't understand…

Just what I needed and at an affordable price

I needed a pepper grinder that is easy to load, won't tip over, doesn't leave pepper dust in the cupboard, grinds fine and is easy to use Brute force, and it was easy to clean. This meat grinder meets all my requirements. Sure, I'd love to have one of these exquisite solid copper or stainless steel designs as a centerpiece on my countertop or table, but I couldn't justify the extra expense of displaying it. Also, I didn't want to use something that would require batteries for similar button…

Good while it lasted

Only made it a little over two years before it fell apart. The shaft popped out of the top case and I can't find any reference to a clip described by another reviewer with a similar malfunction. I probably use three times as much pepper as most people, so that was a decent use. The deducted stars reflect what I believe is a short life. I liked this product because of the handle and the ceramic grinder at a very good price. The lid comes in handy as it reduces pepper dust splattering and can be…

won't buy from Kitchen & Dining again

Edit: 01/04/2019, less than a year after purchasing this item the plastic part you list below broke. I can not use. I don't recommend it as it doesn't last long. I was a bit worried about some of the negative reviews about it before I bought it. Bought it anyway. don't regret it I have a little obsessive compulsive disorder and don't like it now my salt shaker doesn't fit in my pepper grinder but oh well. I've seen some complaints about fine/coarse tuning. I managed to fine-tune it just fine…

The best pepper mill I have ever used.

I ordered this for my father who loves to cook because he used a quilted handle pepper mill for a while and knew he deserved better. I was actually quite hesitant to buy this pepper mill because there were others sold at Revain that had a lot more customer reviews and were a bit more expensive. I hope this review helps change that. This is literally the best pepper grinder I have ever used. I finally saw it in person at my parents' house and was blown away by the simplicity of this thing's…

The first was 5 stars. Not so for a replacement.

update 8/2021. it eventually died and was replaced by a meat grinder of the same type. after a few months of use, something (peppercorn) got stuck in it and was difficult to turn. When twisted harder, the steel shaft connection in the handle broke, so it's now a dead grinder. The 5 stars were for the original but the replacement which was relatively new and hardly used gets 1 star. We're buying a different type this time, so read the negatives to see how the newer one actually fares. First…
