Fast and small, but does NOT support AFC!

It is not stated in the description but this lens does NOT support AFC (continuous focus)! So if you're looking for a fast lens to capture moving subjects in low light, this isn't for you. I bought it as an 'outdoor' lens and for low light group portraits at family gatherings, so I probably don't have a problem with it, but if I were aware of the lack of frequency response I probably would have picked something better. Even if the price is hard to beat. The lens seems decently sharp but hasn't…

Small and sharp good for camera and photography

I had a 2009 GF1 version of this little pancake lens for many years and loved it. Having recently bought a Lumix GX85 I figured I should try a newer version of it. I like its looks and it looks great on the GX85. It's very small and the autofocus is fast and accurate; It doesn't chase and captures the objects as soon as I press the shutter button halfway. Images are clear even in low light. Both attached photos were closed indoors and I can barely see the noise. The price was also quite…

Fantastic performance in a small body

I was immediately struck by the sharpness of this lens. It competes with the best M4/3 lenses like the Pan/Leica 25mm f/1.4 and the Olympus 75mm f/1.8. This, combined with its small size and f/1.7 maximum aperture, makes it a very valuable tool for any M4/3 user. One criticism I always heard about this lens was that the autofocus was pretty slow. If this is your concern, you don't have to worry. Focuses very quickly and accurately. Technically it might be slower than some of the other M4/3…

Auto focus died after 9 months of light use

I've taken some really incredible photos with this lens on my Panasonic G85 and G9 cameras over the course of 9 months including the birth of our first child. Physical size was a big advantage. The focal length is very comfortable and the f1.7 aperture is nothing short of a star for creating creamy bokeh in low light. Up until a few days ago while on holiday we took it out of its case and realized it wasn't going to be eye catching. Neither autofocus nor manual focus work (MF motorized "by…

Superb Everyday Fixed Lens

I am amazed at the quality I get with my Panasonic Lumix GX85 and this lens. First, it's the "damn" form factor. This makes the camera even easier to use, and the GX85 is much easier to use than larger DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. An open aperture of F1.7 is good, but when you drop down to F8.0 it looks good. The GX85's stabilization is great for images with existing light. The image I've attached to this review was handheld at a shutter speed of 1/15th of a second. In order to achieve more…

Most of the MFT setup.

Well, this lens. I had an earlier version of this lens and gave it three stars because the auto focus speed was almost terrible. That was some years ago. Something changed? Yes actually. Camera bodies have gotten better, with better interfaces, better focusing systems, better touchscreens, etc. Although this lens is the same as it's always been, it's better now because it's part of a better system and I feel great. It's convenient to say that it's now a 5 star lens for 90% of situations, when…
