I took it off the first time I tried to remove the freehub.

The first time I tried to remove the overrunning clutch, it broke. That's right, it was very tightly screwed there. For a tool that not only specializes in removing freewheels, but also *a specific type of freewheel*, this is unacceptable. This thing has one purpose and it failed.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something

Pairs perfectly with the Sun Tour Ratchet

What a pain. The overrunning clutch did not understand for almost 30 years and did not want to come off. But the tool did what it was supposed to do and I ended up disengaging the freewheel. I had to be creative with my methods, but I won! Just make sure you order the right tool as I've found from my research that there are many different types.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Includes Negative

Genuine Park Tool was not good for the job

The specs are correct but this tool was bent and damaged and could not be used when I tried to use it to remove the ratchet. This appears to be more of a design flaw with the 4 spline freewheel than the 12 spline freewheel, but it was frustrating enough that I replaced my entire freewheel so that I no longer have to use this tool. Isn't worth the money to me.

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Works well if you use a screw!

This worked well to remove my old freewheel. A NOTICE. BEFORE USING THIS TOOL, YOU MUST USE A LONG SCREW TO ATTACH THE DEVICE. If you don't use a bolt, this is not possible. Simply insert this tool into the long screw that goes through the hub. Loosen the screw one turn, and then use this tool to loosen the screw. With this method - and only with this method - the tool works fantastically.

Pros
  • Handy part
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Worked and didn't break the tool!

Worked on a fairly stuck Joytech ratchet. I followed the instructions from Park Tool's Youtube video titled "Freewheel Removal and Installation". @4:00 They are asking you to gently (DO NOT TIGHTEN) the banjo bolt behind the tool to hold it in place and prevent tool removal or free play. It worked! I had to use a fairly long jumper on the wrench. They have great videos on how to use their tools. Thank you ParkTool!

got a job! (Bicycle beginner)

I've recently become interested in cycling. So I bought a used bike with a freewheel cassette that had to be disassembled/removed to degrease and get it running properly because the bike was in the garage for a long time. This tool along with a socket wrench (plus degreaser) was all I needed. I wasn't sure if this tool would fit, but it did. So I assume there is a size standard for 4 slot cassettes? I don't know much about my bike. I only learn as I go. The next task is new tires and some lube,

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
