Description of 🔧 Park Tool Pedal Tap Set for Bicycles

Clean out or restore damaged threads in crank arms with these pedal taps. These taps can be used with either steel or alloy crank arms. Set includes both right and left hand threads. The 1/2" size is common on one piece cranks.

When you need it, there's nothing better.

At some point the threads on your cranks may tear. If it's not the drive side then you need a reverse tap and this is the one. Easy to use and a real lifesaver when you need it.

Highly recommended with tap M4-M12

Excellent quality and efficient tool! When changing the pedals on my old Gary Fisher MTB, the threads came loose. This tool cut new threads in just minutes and voila, the new pedals went on with ease. A little more expensive maybe, but a must have for a bike tool kit. Highly recommended together with M4-M12 hammer handle.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Wrong size faucet in a properly labeled bag.

Ordered 9/16"-20. The sticker on the cover says 9/16 but the stamp on the roosters says 1/2-20 and they are so small. Expect one bit more note this wrong size can be a disaster now i will look for a new box to return :-( go to order etc not sure if i want to order another set and repeat this process again 1 star for all the trouble.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick

I had better luck with the old pedal I used to whistle with.

Faucets seem to be either too big or a bit oversized. Poke them through a clean hole and got some metal out which is amazing which of course changed the fit of the pedal. So I'm a little worried about thread integrity. I'm trying to clean some French threads on a Peugeot, had better luck with an old pedal that I filed, drilled a smaller diameter on the crank, oiled the old pedal and pressed deep a few times. until after several iterations the work is complete. The larger pedal now fits, but the

Great but expensive faucets

If you've ever broken crank threads or loose pedals, this is the product you need (along with the faucet handle). These taps basically allow you to cut new cleaning threads into your cranks and then your pedals should tighten up nicely. Please make sure when using this (or any other faucet) that you apply a small drop of oil to each faucet. This helps a lot with the friction and movement of metal shavings to the troughs on the faucet. The only reason I don't give these faucets five stars is…

amazing bike cranes

Since the normal 9/16 tpi for a fine is 18 you've kind of fallen into the trap of buying this tap set if you ever want to re-tap a bike crank since older bikes are usually 9/ have 16 at 20 tpi. On the other hand they worked fantastic, my friend kinda pushed the left pedal back and ripped off the last 3 or 4 strands but the left tap fixed it very well and her pedal went right in with finger pressure. While it warns against cutting new threads with this set, to be fair bike cranks are soft…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine
