Description of Park Tool PH 8 P Handled Wrench

These thoughtfully designed P-handled hex wrenches fit the task at hand, as well as they fit in your hand. The long shaft of each wrench is fitted with a Bondhus Balldriver for those hard to reach bolt heads. The hex wrenches are made from Bondhus Protanium high torque industrial steel for long life. The offset P-handles are made from a durable nylon material and are ergonomically-designed for comfortable use. The 10mm P-Handle Hex Wrench can also be used for removing crank bolts with a 10mm socket.

Great allen wrench tool

I bought this tool to remove old Wimberly footpegs from telephoto lenses. (The heads of those vital screws that attach Arca-Swiss nameplates to expensive lenses are easily cracked/damaged; when these sheets fail, expensive gear can be damaged.) This Park Tool was absolutely perfect for helping me with this. Removing and replacing these camera plates. The Park Tool is long (allows me to get deep into screw holes), strong (a lot of torque was applied to the tool but it didn't bend or break) and…

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Overall not bad. The short part of the key seems to be.

Not bad in general. The short part of the wrench appears to be slightly larger than the long part of a regular 8mm wrench. It requires a bit of force and wiggling to get it securely into the screw head. The long part slides in with no slack like my regular allen wrenches. Not the end of the world as I use it for wall mounting the grips, not for servicing a client's really expensive bike, but something to keep in mind if considering this as a workshop tool. This can probably also be corrected…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • It was possible to choose a newer model

Durable and well designed; Always buy Park Tool

Park Tool is generally more expensive, but their products are well designed and durable. I use a 4mm wrench for things like tightening bottle cages or seatposts and a 5mm wrench for things like a bike caliper and adjusting the front caliper. The longer side is great for tighter spaces like bottle cages, while the shorter side is ideal when you're not constrained by tight spaces. The longer side is designed so you can tighten or loosen it at an angle as the hex wrench is more rounded on that…

Pros
  • Ease of use
Cons
  • Reliability

Excellent key in excellent format.

5mm is the most commonly used tool, great form factor and spherical tip. Very comfortable - to the point that I find it difficult to hold in my hands. I help out with the Boy Scout mountain bike program staff. I spend most of my time tuning and (constantly) re-tuning bikes as they come and go many times a day. The 5mm wrench always disappeared. And even a cheap treble without a ball sometimes had a hard time getting into some sockets. And it was still difficult for me to hold it in my hands…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Very expensive

Rugged, ergonomic and useful

Park P-handle hex wrenches in sizes 4mm and 5mm are extremely useful for adjusting gears and brakes. They are very durable and give you much more control over these adjustments than regular hex wrenches. The reach is useful and the handle design gives you many advantages on the screw. The metal seems strong enough that you can use the end of the ball joint with quite a bit of force. However, I'm not sure what the purpose of buying the full set is. There are few applications for the 10mm version

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Low maintenance
