Not suitable for older consoles.

I bought this to shoot SNES games with S-Video. Unfortunately it didn't work. The picture jumped. I had to get an upscaler to make it work. Works well with my other consoles.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Not suitable for analog to digital

I really hate this card. The software is terrible, does not name and name common file formats. Worst of all, the analog conversion is terrible. Compared to using an old DV camera to convert S-Video to Digital, this PCI card has the worst conversion. The image is dark, as if it has too much contrast. Nice try Startech, but you failed to make a proper A/D converter.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Something else

Cheap for a reason - accessories and consumables

Bought to remove the screen of some old retro computers. The price looked great so I decided to give it a try. - There is no recording in low resolution (640x480 etc.). Only a black screen is displayed. - Records 1024x768+, but in my case 1024x768 resulted in severe screen flickering, making the recording unusable. .

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

This PCI-e capture card is very suitable for retro gaming but does not fully support 240p signals. The first image was taken before any of the device's video settings were changed, the second is set with Brightness and Contrast set to 73 and Saturation to 68. The third image shows what you see when something moves on the screen, which is the result of the fact that this capture card interprets a 240p signal as 480i and a 360x240 resolution as 720x480. The FPS that the Nintendo 64 runs at is…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Almost never
