Indicator is independent of temperature

Bought for our hedgehog. Heats up quickly and serves its purpose. But I got the impression that I could use the dial to select the temperature I wanted. It's not activated, so I'm assuming the desired temperature range. It also dissipates heat from above and below, not just the top.

I almost burned the house down

YES, WE CONNECTED IT TO THE THERMOSTAT. Thank goodness my snake is fine and the carpet is a bit burned. NOT ORDER. Overheats even with thermostat. Never again. This is the worst experience I've ever had. If I didn't get home on time, I wouldn't have a home. Checked the thermostat twice and three times, works fine. TERRIBLE. QUALITY CONTROL REQUIRED.

  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Legacy model

It's broken? in Reptiles & Amphibians

I bought this to use on the warm side of my python cage. I've been using it for a few weeks now and have found that it doesn't keep a constant temperature. The thermostat read 76 degrees right after 3 days when it was at 90, so I increased it a bit when it was at 100! Maybe I got a defective one? But whatever, I've tried and I'm going back to my old heating tape. it is too dangerous

Perfect for any resin artist!

So, I use this for a very different reason than advertised, so my review probably isn't very applicable to others; I use this heating pad to make a resin curing box. Resin is a heat based reaction, so adding heat reduces the amount of bubbles and causes the part to cure much faster! It's been working reliably for its stated purpose for over a month and I plan on continuing to use it for the same reason!

Heats up a standard aquarium and keeps running

Used in: Standard all glass aquarium with a thin layer of coconut shell substrate for my leopard gecko. warm side for the gecko. The substrate will dry out over time if not sprayed with water regularly. If your pet has a home or sanctuary where they often sit, I would place them on the opposite side of the tank. This thing can get pretty hot depending on how well insulated the gasket under the tank is. My only question is should I use a heat lamp instead? Is there anything the heat lamp gives…

Great for my special needs!

I didn't realize it wasn't an adhesive when I bought it, but I actually prefer it that way because it can be used more than once. I've almost always used ZooMed's traditional heating pads that stick to the bottom of the tank, but on my plastic tank for my redtail boa constrictor, I couldn't get the glue to stick well, meaning my poor snake wasn't getting the right heat. With this heating pad, I put it straight into the trash can and the snake is way better than before. The heating pad needs a…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

This was delivered in one day for $12 (thanks to Mr. Bezo), so if it works it's a win, right? It works great, I have it lying sideways under a 16x8 inch acrylic case that Matilda has (she's looking in the corner) with a little East Box turtle. This allows it to move to warmer places or to cooler places outside of the heated section. I use a laser instrument to measure the temperature. The temperature control works, but again it was $12 shipping and, as is usual for the country of origin, the…

Fantastic heating mat with built in rheostat producing gentle heat

I'm really amazed at how well this heating mat works for the money. I set the temperature and monitored it constantly for about 3 days. If the temperature in my house changes, the temperature in the grow tent will also change. But just as my house changes just a few degrees, so does the bathtub. It's like nature descending to 75° and reaching 78°. The room temperature stays between 69° and 72°. I have a silicone mat that this heater sits on, with a growth bath on top. I put small spacers on top

Pros
  • Best in its niche

Hard To Gauge is the best heating mat

I bought this sticky heating pad as an alternative heat source for my pet turtle. He's a spoiled lazy turtle who usually sleeps in a heated dog bed (with curtains). That's what my rating is based on. I myself am not a permanent owner of reptiles. Why did I buy this heating pad? Well I have a second carrier that is long on the inside. This is one of those plastic pet carriers with a cage door and a top window. My tortoise loves napping there. I bought a second dog bed and put it in a long tote…
