price Pfister does not make a handle that fits this valve. You have 2 options. Buy a brass adapter from Revain, price Pfister #970-077 (good luck trying to find one at a large department store or your local hardware store), or you can buy a handle that will fit close and use a Dremel/Carbide Bit to enlarge socket on handle.

This cartridge fits and works great except I can't find a Price Pfister or third party pen that fits. The old barrel with the knob was a little smaller. I ended up having to bore out the barrel and enlarge the opposing slots to fit. It's not ideal, but it works. The recommended part number when searching another handle results in a dead end search.

This is a significant improvement over the old plastic threaded valve. I have an old one that has fallen apart and if you have to hire a plumber or if it's in a house you have to come to fix it the small savings on the cheaper one isn't worth it. Regardless, the old style can break over time, and it's cheaper to spend a little more than one that may need to be replaced all over again.

The originally installed shower handle leaked cold water into the hot water line. Pressure equalization value failed. The house is only 4 years old. Basically our hot water went above 110 degrees when the water heater was set to 140. This solved the problem, we have very hot water again. Easy installation if you are a handy person. Hope this one lasts longer. I bought a second one just in case.

This Pfister Price cartridge has a versatile look and fits 6 different types of faucets. Just installed in 17196-0100G from 10/04/04 and no changes. Includes instructions with drawings of 6 different matching cartridges (e.g. this is what the old one looks like, see page 4) and common difficulties (use cartridge with adapter or scrap in the mould). Very easy and helpful.

Arrived 4 days earlier than expected - amazing! Installed in 20 minutes. First I turned off the plumbing, removed the panel, unscrewed and removed the handle, unscrewed the 4 Phillips head screws, removed the old cartridge, then removed the gray extension before installing the new one to ensure the replacement part was a snug fit.
