Fram Filter Easy to install

I only buy Fram filters for the ease of grip. The textured black coating on the outside of the filter means I don't need a filter wrench and sometimes even a pipe wrench to remove the old filter. By the way, the number one reason I never go anywhere in my car for an oil change is because the technician spins the filter gorilla. Apparently the old rule of tightening the filter 3/4 turn after making contact with the gasket is no longer taught.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Having trouble

Quality filter at a reasonable price

This is my favorite filter that I don't advertise but I actually leave it on my 1998 Malibu V6 for the second oil change I do on my car make, after the first, on which I carry out an oil and filter change, the next time after about 10 minutes only 41/2 liters of oil. I know purists find this sacrilegious, but for me it works on a car that does about 3,500 miles a year. Definitely a good filter with a good internal filter versus bottom line paper filters.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • I doubt it

good filter in spare parts

Are there better filters? Yes. For the money it's hard to beat. 99% efficiency and the cover frame on the bottom makes it very easy to remove and install the filter. Fram gets scolded for the way they make filters but if there were real problems they would have class action lawsuits and all that. Disclaimer: I found Super Tech filters to be slightly better done, 99% efficient, and for under $3. So here is what I use.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • protection

Fram filter well known

Filter needed for next oil change. I am a typical weekend worker and forgot the filter when buying motor oil. (Doot!) Anyway, I've ordered other items from Revain and had to bump my cart to that magic amount to get "free shipping". This filter was the last item to receive my free shipping! Needed a filter, got it just in time for the weekend. That non-slip rubber coating on the end of the filter is amazing. Whoever thought of that, I owe them a grown-up drink!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Great for Chevy Volt Gen1

Bought this oil filter for my Chevy Volt Gen1 based on a recommendation from the forum. And since the oil is changed once a year and engine oil can only go 300 (and in some cases less!) miles, this oil filter should have an internal synthetic environment to withstand oil contamination. year round and may not break down like a cheap oil filter with paper or cardboard inside. Very well built and durable, you can "feel" the difference when you hold this oil filter.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Requires outlet

I've driven over 300,000 miles with these filters

I'm approaching 320,000 miles, I've used these filters for the last 200,000 miles with Mobile-1, approximately 8,000 miles between oil changes (based on GM Oil Life Monitor/Guide for changing) The metal on these cans is obviously thicker than the cheaper filters so I doubt it will crack on a cold winters day and while I'm changing the oil myself and don't stupidly tighten them where I need an oil filter wrench to remove it , the thickness of the metal on the can is good enough that even if you…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Intervals

Excellent full synthetic filters

Full synthetic filter with filter (glass fiber instead of cellulose I think), well made. The filter material is wire mesh (all plastics should be wire mesh as they are not rigid). Suitable for advanced OCIs. Filter specifications are published, which in itself is a differentiator. I follow a simple rule: if there are no published specs, I refuse to use them. Vague marketing claims like "this is best eaten after sliced bread" are useless to me. I say: Show me the money (i.e. properties). In…

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
