Decent Oil Filter - Oil Filter

FRAM oil filters are a trusted brand and I usually recommend them but due to their high performance they tend to leak on all my Subaru. I've since switched to Wix and the leaks have stopped. And yes, I always use fresh oil seals when the oil cooler wears out the old ones as this should be COMMON KNOWLEDGE for anyone involved in oil changes AND oil cooler maintenance.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Frequency

It's cheap and still filters oil, although it sticks to the Wix brand.

It's cheap and it's still a filter, so if you need it, go get it. However, my oil got dirty very quickly compared to the Wix filter I had before. Once I went to Wix I don't think I could go back. I have 3 wix filters that I can use because of the quality. If you have an old 90's Honda like me, buy a Wix filter and a good, high mileage oil and you can't go wrong.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Fits like a glove: Oil filter

We recently replaced the engine on my mother's favorite 1998 Honda Odyssey. It finally gave up with a broken head after 240,000 miles. For a few hundred bucks, we pulled a compatible motor from the junkyard and rebuilt it before putting it on the car. I have ordered a number of rebuild parts from Revain and this was on the list. Everything was delivered quickly and everything arrived the first time.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Secret

Suitable for 8kw Onan Diesel Generator

This Fram Filter is referenced by Cummins Onan Filter part number 122-0833. It installed without any problems. I have used a small oil filter strap wrench with Fram and Onan filters. When I count the millions of miles people have ridden together with Fram filters with no problems, I have a hard time understanding the benefits of the overpriced Onan filter. Using my generator requires an oil change four times a year, which means the Fram saves me about $46 a year.

Pros
  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • Uncertain

Supports my Honda SUVs for 200,000 miles!

I use this Fram Extra Guard (not Ultra) almost exclusively on my 1998 Honda CR-V and 2003 Honda Pilot since they were new. Both have 200,000 km and no problems with the engine! I like the black friction coating that makes installation easier. My pilot was supposed to use the smaller PH7317 as Honda downsized their standard pre 2003 filter size but this has the same threading and compatible gasket and I would rather use this one, the larger one.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Clarity

They work great on my Yanmar 1601D tractor

I use them on my Yanmar 1601D tractor. I've used 3 of these this summer and they seem to be working great. However, I would like to warn you that they were in fact designed for conventional oils and I have been using them in conjunction with synthetic T6 lately. I used the RotellaT6 because of the heat and the T6 has been proven to run cooler than all the others. You can also buy T6 cheaper here at Revain than anywhere else! The disposable filters are great for me and work great with my gear…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • No auto steering

I started using FRAM filters 35 years ago. I was made aware of this by an article in a car magazine that tested several brands and published the results. Fram was able to remove grains down to 9 microns in size from the oil. Another brand only removes grains up to 25-27 microns. Another result was that Fram retained its viscosity at higher temperatures and over longer periods of time. As a mechanical engineer, I liked the fram with these test results. I've driven my cars 275,000 miles…

O-ring failed on my eighth purchase

Oil was leaking everywhere. I thought the dealer did something on the last visit and almost blamed him. Concluded that the o-ring/rubber seal is worse than other brands "after some experienced opinions in my circles" as I'm not really a car enthusiast etc. Got a different brand though , oil changed and switched. Since then no problems. I shouldn't be biased though as I've bought at least 8 of these over the years for two different cars I've owned and this was the first time I've done so. So…

Reliable product for extended drainage applications

Forget the internet mythology of the old fram filters derisively called OCOD. orange vessel of death. This is a completely different filter. The Fram company produces 4 filter stages. The Ultra is currently the top model and uses the best materials and construction. Don't confuse Ultra with an old orange can with glued end caps, it's like comparing a modern radial tire to an old cross-ply design. It does not make sense. Thanks to its mechanically stable construction with metal end caps and…
