I don't have to worry too much about protecting my truck body but the ease of installation itself is worth it and the peace of mind is worth it. Installed in minutes without even reading the instructions. It looks pretty clean, but it doesn't exactly follow the lines of my first-gen Tacoma. In any case, now this is a good place to put a rear camera with a mod (that's my plan).

This lock took 15 minutes to install and I am impressed with the ease of installation and the clarity of the instructions. It matches the color of my original cap almost perfectly and I am very satisfied with this product. The reason for the 3 star durability rating is simply because I just installed it. I'll try to remember to come back at a higher rate if this proves to be a reliable device.

Installed this manual lock on my 2002 Tacoma. It was easy to install, although I wish both my old half and this were metal, but that's what cars do these days. It does add some security, especially if you have a tonneau cover or bak flip like I plan to do, but I wouldn't say it's overly secure as it's all plastic except for the cam lock. Looks stock if you remove the sticker. Very important.

I think someone in the previous review got it over their head that it's a great design but poor materials and I couldn't put it better. Knowing how fragile it is based on previous reviews AND once installed I don't expect it to last a year. I've been wearing it for a few months now, but even in the unlocked position the handle sometimes doesn't work (won't open) and I know that if I use more force it will break. The "fix" here is to lock and unlock again until the handle moves freely.

Disappointed with the product. Does not fit correctly on the tailgate. I made several attempts to ensure the installation was correct. It would be very easy to lift and break the latch assembly, exposing the bed. Definitely not worth the price. I had imagined it better. At least 1/8 inch from a good fit. Pretty disappointed. I'm not sure if I received a defective device, but I didn't notice the failure until after the return period had expired. The way it connects to the handle does not provide enough gripping surface as it just snaps onto the handle, only noticed last week that it was a bit loose and when checking the connection a small connection point broke off, which made it unusable.
