Do not rush to disassemble the nailer.

My Porter FN250C Finish Nailer Cord has worked flawlessly for years. Without warning, air leaked around the trigger and it did not fire. After researching online I decided to replace the trigger valve assembly. Removal is easy if you have a punch or punch to remove the roll pin. Be careful when hitting the roll pin to avoid tipping over or deforming the pin. I cleaned the body area with a Q-tip and lubricated the o-rings with pneumatic oil before installing the trigger valve assembly. The…

Problem solved. in Power tool parts

I was surprised. So I started looking for a solution. I found that this would probably fix the symptoms of no air pressure getting to the trigger. I thought of just replacing the nail gun with a similar product from Revain but decided to give it a try. Please note that no instructions are included (at least I didn't receive them). One of the YouTube videos I watched to determine which product to try, I went back for help installing it. If you're 1/2 way and have a small hammer drill to knock…

Worked in ten minutes

My 10 year old FN250C suddenly stopped working and made a deflation noise when the trigger was pulled and released. You will also need lubricant to install this new part. Look behind the trigger and notice how the trigger spring wire engages the stainless steel piston. Carefully knock out three different pins around the trigger. Pull out the old drain valve (mine fell apart so make sure you put all the parts back together, it should look exactly like new). Push in the new starter valve until it

Incredibly easy fix

Got a nailing tool for a very cheap price from a small thrift store only to take it home to find that it doesn't drive a nail, only one trigger little air leaking around when I pull the trigger. Just had to knock out the two roller pins and axle for the trigger (be careful these latches are a bit fragile) and then pull out the trigger/safety. Put the new one in straight, put the pins back in, slide the trigger and push the swivel bar back in and secure with a bracket (they were supposed to have

Saved my FN250C nailer

My FN250C nailer with porter cable no longer works. When I pulled the trigger, I heard air coming out. I googled the problem and people pointed to this part as the culprit. Ordered a part and replaced the broken part and the finish nailer started working like new. The steps I used to replace the trigger assembly are: 1) There are three pins behind the trigger. Two hold nothing but print and one has a small black elastic. Using a set of nails the size of the studs, carefully/slowly drive in the…

Fixed my nail gun

As others have said here my nailer was not making any audible leaks or anything. It stopped when I literally had 2 nails left to finish my trim job. I disassembled all major components to look for any obvious problems. Everything looked normal except that the small piston behind the trigger felt "soft". I gambled on it, ordered on Sunday, arrived on Tuesday and 10 minutes later the nailer was back in action! If your nailer is failing, that's probably the culprit, whether you hear air or not…
