stranded me cycling

I ordered 4 months ago so can't return although I didn't use it until last weekend when it stranded me. I blew out a tire, pulled that nasty wire out of the tire, replaced the tube and hooked up my CO2 blower. This CO2 inflator was inflated briefly, but the inner rubber burst quickly. It sounded like a gunshot and scared me to death. CO2 erupted everywhere (except in my pipe). and gave me no opportunity to inflate the hose. Luckily I had cell phone signal so I called my beautiful wife who wasโ€ฆ

Leaks and becomes unusable after several uses

Seal rupture after opening and closing the valve several times will cause leakage and render it unusable. I've bought 3 of these in the last year. They work well for some valve opening and closing applications, but then leaks start to appear which only worsen and render it useless. Maybe I'm closing the valve too tight and crushing the gasket? When this item works it's really great because I'm using a Schrader valve and there is no leakage when the valve is opened to inflate the tire. Theโ€ฆ

CO2 pump for home use

I've had my shiny thing for over seven years now. It works perfectly. A few weeks ago, not realizing that the cartridge was not empty, I began to unscrew the inflator head from the CO2 cartridge and "slammed" it as if it was about to explode. The sealing ring is damaged. It was complete user error. I noticed gas leaking out when piercing new CO2 cartridges. Full of crap. Thinking I'd have to replace it, I started digging around looking for the next inflator head. However, I then discovered that

I use mine quite often. what they are for

This is my third 'shiny item' Portable Tire Inflator. They work well and should last indefinitely bar one user error. I use mine quite often. The way they mount onto a bike tire stem is to use a recessed rubber gasket in a metal connector head. This washer is non-removable and fits both stems (I've been lucky enough to use it on both Presta and Schrader stems). You risk jamming the seal when this device depressurizes. If the gasket gets stuck I don't have much luck pulling the entire gasket out

  • High marks for support and durability from testers

There are other fish in the sea - BEWARE OR YOU MAY GET MESH

I have already reviewed this product in the past but after yesterday I have to write one more. Let me explain! I've bought several of these over the years. I rarely get flats, but when I WANT an INFLATOR I CAN TRUST, and they fail me every time, so I fired Portland Design and went with another brand that has stood the test of time. Over time, these inflators can rust in the saddlebag. Mine sat in my saddlebag for about a year before it was needed and when the time came it failed. I boughtโ€ฆ

Solid track kit!

Perhaps one of the most important items in my kit. To be honest I've never carried a CO2 pump in the last seven years of mountain biking, I just carry a conventional pump which did a great job when I needed it. But after going tubeless last summer, I really realized some of the limitations of a good hand. After rolling a tire on a road trip and unlucky with my arm, I decided that CO2 blowers need to be explored when I came across Portland Design Works' Shiny Object CO2 blower. There areโ€ฆ
