. think I gave it 5 stars based on how sturdy they looked

I know I reviewed this earlier and I think I gave it 5 stars based on how sturdy they looked. Well, actually used them this week and they struggled with 18 awg wire. I will use these only on lighter gage than 18. What I need is a good flush cutter w/power for 18 awg and larger.

Pros
  • close cutter
Cons
  • The PLATO 170 Shear Cutter may not be suitable for heavy-duty cutting tasks

Excellent!: my feedback

Excellent flush cutter. Woo-hoo, a product made in the USA.These are just as sturdy as the current Plato 170 Cutter that I have had for years. The other cutter still works great. Just wanted to have a spare.I mainly use these for 16, 18, 20 and 22 gauge wire. When working on classic arcade video games and pinball machines, I use these to snip through hole solder component legs from capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors, etc.

Pros
  • Have used them to cut my nails. Ordered two to replace an old that I had for years
Cons
  • The cutting blades may become misaligned after extended use

Sharp, Precise, Made in USA

These are very sharp and make flush flat cuts. I bought these specifically for 3D printing. They are perfect for cutting filament without crushing it and trimming prints. Please note that the blades do not open very wide (shown open to max in photo). They are spring loaded open. Made in USA is stamped on the steel.

Pros
  • they are the best cutting tool for small model parts and tie wraps
Cons
  • The PLATO 170 Shear Cutter may not be as durable as other options on the market

Love these! on my review.

We have these cutters at my school's robotics shop. They are simply amazing. Such clean cuts! It's like cutting through hot butter. Extremely ergonomic grip.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for cutting small or delicate items
