🔪 PLATO 170 Shear Cutter, 1mm: Precision Cutting Tool for Industrial Applications Review

When I first got these, I was like ooooo they are light, sharp (THE TIPS), and very flush cut. Well, after using it for about 3 days of hardcore use they have become dull. This is very frustrating since its so hard to find good snips for wires thick and thin without losing the ability to flush cut. Little daunting to buy these again just based off the short life of them. I will tell you that you can look further on amazon and find the red ones with the black and they are cheaper and better,

I use these snips for braided wire, coated and uncoated, and it's almost sad how happy it makes me that when I use these there's just a "snip!" noise and a clean cut. Since it's braided wire a lot of other wire cutters end up squashing it rather than giving a clean cut. I wouldn't use these snips for heavy duty wire, but that's not what they're designed for anyway.

Not the best flush cutters, but still great shears for the price. I use them primarily for flush-cutting leads from the underside of PCBs. They work well, and you aren't going to break the bank if you need to replace them for any reason.

I have have a pair of these Plato 170 shears for as long as I can remember. The problem was I had only one pair and it was never in the toolbox/roll-a-round(3X) I was using when I needed them. Problem solved - I now have 3-pair.

Cheap, but very functional. The bright color helps me find it again and again, whether at the bottom of my toolbox or casually left somewhere. Nevertheless, I now have two of these, so I must have misplaced it and repurchased. Could be built more strongly, but easy to bend the cutting surfaces back into alignment.

These lil cutters work perfectly I do a lot of ecig and dripper coils ant these are the perfect size and shape and are super sharp! Sincerely Wade

I can't gush about these enough. I was working on a jewelry project with some chain that needed to be cut. My previous jewelry wire cutters would smash the tiny chain links but not actually cut through them. Also my previous cutters didn't have a fine enough tip to get at the smallest chain links. Saw a video on caning a chair seat where these were used. I have used them for that purpose with high expectations which were easily met. Very pleased and would recommend them to anyone needing to snip in tight places.

These are great for close-quarter nipping and cutting. They will easily cut ONE leg of a DIP IC (not that anyone uses such things any more) and are great for all kinds of work. in fact, my wife began "borrowing" one or more of my pairs for fingernails, sewing work, toenails, etc. so I had to order more in self defense.

Thee work great for my jewelry projects. They cut through 1-3 mm chain without any problems, and the handles are comfortable.

These are some very good flush cuts for the money, and if used properly (not cutting through thicker gauged wires/safety wire) they're not intended for they should last for a very long time. There are no Plato model 170 cutter/shears that are made in USA despite the description saying that they are. Techspray (aka ITW-CC Electronics) the company that "makes" the true Plato model 170 stated in an email query that their cutters are made in "Costa Rica from parts from the US and other countries."The cutters I received had "Made in China" stamped on one of the handles which also form the cutter. I'm using these as claw trimmers for cats. The very fine cutting tip, sharp blades, and full size handle make it easy to precisely trim cat claws without accidently cutting too high on the claw. They are very sharp and cut through the claw without the cat feeling much of any pressure on the claw. This helps keep the cat much calmer and therefore the claw trimming completed considerably quicker. Well made product at a great price.

What can I say, at this price, buy several! They are sharp, come to a small, precise point and edge. Great for snipping small wires, plastic, small project work.
