Every year we hold a family pumpkin carving contest and the hardest part for me is using those cheap flimsy carving sets that are sold at my local grocery store. This time I decided to plan ahead and order this premium wood carving kit. The purchase was worth it. Heavy, strong stainless steel that I couldn't bend under pressure. It also comes with its own carry case, which will come in handy once you've cleaned all the goo off your tools.

This was our first year carving pumpkins with my daughter and I wanted a set of tools to make it easier (and therefore more fun). I chose this set for the variety of tools, fast shipping, and included templates. You made it so easy! We did without a few small tools - mostly just saws, etching tools, a drill and a shovel. We used two templates. My husband and I were very pleased with our results and I definitely attribute that to these tools.

This review is for the pumpkin carving kit. I'm not sure what else could be listed under that heading, so be careful. The pumpkin carving set is good. Full odor on blades and bucket. Nice strong steel that you can actually get in and cut with without folding or bending like the cheaper plastic handled tools you often see in big department stores. I'm impressed enough with the quality and the lovely carrying case, I'll be ordering a second one to ensure there are enough tools this year.

Carving set looks extraordinary. It's stainless steel and should work with no issues. I would rate 5 for the set. But they also promise 21 pumpkin patterns. What you actually get are 21 1 inch pumpkin images - about the size of a postage stamp. I would hardly call it a pattern. More of an idea. Carving set - my overall grade is 3. But if you don't really need a pattern then I definitely recommend it.

I've carved about 25 pumpkins in my life so I'm not an expert. or a bevel at the front made it difficult to see. The little saw only had rounded teeth, even the regular dollar packs in the store had round teeth on one side and sharp teeth on the other. The small thin lines were quite complicated. The grips are quite comfortable, but the stencil poke could be twice as long for a better feel. YMMV
