I've read many of these reviews and found that my experience was very different from many others. I almost never write them, but I felt I had to share them. Many people had difficulty assembling this cage. If you've ever built something from IKEA, the principle is the same: don't fully tighten the screws until you're done. The cage turned out to be even bigger than I expected. I have two rats and they love it. You just have to find enough stuff to fill it up! Great alternative to Critter Nation. Update: After 2.5 years my rats are gone and the cage is doing great. With weekly cleaning, the cage will hold up well. Having owned this cage for 3 months I have to say it is very problematic. First, it was very difficult to assemble. I needed a man to hold the parts in place and screwing is not easy. My arm hurt a lot when it was all over. Second, it can't be used without a wire base, which is really bad for little rat's feet, so I have to cut out cardboard sheets to cover the wire, and then put a pad on top. Cleaning is a big pain. I am a Pied Piper (3 rats) and I really liked this cage. It looked beautiful and the metal shelves were a really nice touch. That's why I chose that and not the one creature nation I was looking at. We bought this for our fold/dwarf rabbit. Firstly, I wouldn't recommend this for a full sized rabbit. Our rabbit is adult and smaller so this works for him.
