Perhaps best in hardware

I replaced my old sliding door latch with this model because it looked almost exactly like my old one that wouldn't close anymore. Installation was pretty easy, just a few screws and no special tools were required. Everything was great except the bar I received looks a bit used despite being bought new. In addition, the lever to close the latch is a little tight and difficult to fully lock.

Pros
  • Hands-free design
Cons
  • Upgradable

But nice substitute.

Quality seems pretty solid and mounting hole placement is accurate. If the CORRECT SCREWS were included, installation would take 2 minutes. The screws that came with it were 3/8" shorter! Luckily the screws on the old unit I was replacing were the right thread and length. You'd think at this price point screws of the right length would be a little disappointing as mine Door is exactly the size stated in the product description, the handle would fit.

Pros
  • 4-15/16V mounting hole center
Cons
  • Some bugs

Paying more doesn't always mean getting a better product.

I spent a little more on this than the cheaper brands thinking it would work better. However, before I even attempted to install it, I wanted to make sure the locking mechanism worked. I couldn't get it to unlock the lock. It took a lot of strength to get him to move, and then it didn't work every time. I also tried loosening the clamp screw to see if that would make a difference. But the screw is made of such cheap material that a hole was ripped out in it so it couldn't be turned. Save money,

Pros
  • Mounting holes are 4-15/16 in. center to center.
