My latch breaks about every 5 years and this will be the last time we have used BGE's lifetime guarantee. Yes, the solution was "free," but it cost us $300 to do the work and we had to wait a week for them to show up. This time I bought it and installed it after 2 days. The styling is slightly different, but for $290 less, it looks great and performs flawlessly.

We have a 25 year old sliding door in great condition. The latch broke and we tried to find new hardware to replace the door handle. They were expensive and not exactly what we needed. My husband accidentally tripped over the lever. We ordered it and it fits perfectly. Though he was white and our heavy clothing was gold. My husband removed the doorknob and painted the whole set bronze with hammertone paint. Looks great and works like new.

Works as advertised. It may wobble a bit after installation. The first time the locking mechanisms didn't fit properly, the second time they did. This leads me to believe that the wobbling is due to the latches not being strong (too flimsy and not small enough) or not designed for the pressure put on them when opening and closing. I would do it again though as it saved me over $100 on a handle replacement (20 year old Milgard doors).

We installed 20 year old PrimeLine C 1317 handle sets in our 1.5 inch thick white sliding doors. be the same as the originals (or someone who could have replaced them before we bought the house). The 1-5/8" grommet fits perfectly into the mortise lock and after watching the video in the link above, installation was easy. Please note that you will need to hammer the lockwasher in and this requires a tube or bushing that will accept the 1-5/8" shank (so the hammer hits the tube and not the shank.

After reading some reviews about the middle pin being too long I wanted to use it again. this part of my old lever. I then tried the included pin and it fitted perfectly (my door is a bit thicker than construction doors). The shorter pin may have been the primary cause of lever wear. I can't complain though, the original part has been widely available for ten years and I hope this replacement will last for many years to come.
