Most likely used item

Quality tool but the item I received was quite worn and I don't think poor shipping could be the reason. The rubber on the grips is dented and chipped, as is the black area (don't know the name). The steel profile is quite worn. Pretty sure it's a used item that someone returned and resold. Does the job if you don't bother with those things, but when you buy a new one, expect a new one. Let me damage my tools myself instead of getting them that way.

The Best Clamp Pliers!: Power & Hand Tools

This tool saved me! I was trying to reinstall a weird yoke ring on my Mercedes air box that has a low profile lip over a small blade. I spent 15 minutes swearing in the heat yesterday afternoon before realizing that while my Craftsman locking pliers were strong enough, they weren't gripping and tightening properly. It took me a few more tries but only 3 minutes and a loud click revealed the good news that the ring clasp was finally successfully clamped!

The lock proved a little fiddly

This tool does what it takes to tighten compression hose clamps for installation/removal. After a few staples, the lock began to give me problems as it slipped past the pawl and had to be reinstalled. The more I used it, the easier it slipped out, but as long as I paid attention to where it was in relation to the ratchet teeth before putting it back in, I had no problem with it slipping out when I was pinched. .

May be suitable for occasional use, very roughly made

Finally sent back. They'll probably work fine for a few jobs here and there, and I don't actually need hose clamp pliers that often, but I don't like keeping too many cheap tools. I'd rather use the space for the good guys. They are rough on all edges: rough metal finish, rough riveting/assembly, rough details. I just don't care that these things are in my toolbox when there are better options for just a few bucks.

Where has it been all my life?

I've always wondered why spend money on a stupid tool when channel locks or pliers work just as well. Leaky mole, I was wrong. I just had surgery on my arm so I wanted something that could make it easier to change hoses in my car. This thing lets you easily remove the factory clamps. The ratchet function is smooth and triggers when you want it. Lock it and it just stays on so you can move the yoke anywhere. Great for a garden mechanic and the price is right.

Cheap and works well enough

brackets need regular treatment; My car has 232,000 miles. I don't want to repeat after another reviewer but my experience was the same. Using different pliers is a nightmare. You always slip and you press your hand against something. A hose clamp is definitely the right tool for the job. Just snap and slide the clip. This works quite well and is cheap. Is this the best you can get for your money? Absolutely not. But for the few times I need to use it in my life, it will get the job done.

Complete difficult tasks quickly.

I've used it about 20 times and it's holding up great. I noticed that some reviews say it bends easily. So I avoided using it as a mount. The locking feature is good, but in one tight spot (the usual one), the pliers close easily and lock there before you place them on the clamp. Then you have to pull it out again and use 2 hands to reset the lock. I'm going to modify mine by adding a spring to hold it open. Update July 2020: In a later review I see a picture that seems to show the quill I…

Helps with hateful braces and is worth the money.

Sure helps with tricky clamps and works much better after I figured out how to use it. (The grooved end goes over most of the clip.) It barely opens wide enough on larger clips, and I wish there was a version like channel locks to open it wider. Also, when you squeeze the clip, it has a ratcheting mechanism to hold it in the compressed position. That's good, but if it slips off, it becomes difficult to open without the help of two hands. It's not perfect, but overall it's very good value for…

Marginal. Works when at the right angle.

I needed to remove two constant tension clamps and it took about an hour with this tool. It helped a bit and the blocking feature is good. The problem, however, is that it doesn't work well if the clamp is misaligned. If you're in a tight situation, this doesn't work at all. It would be better if they tilted their heads a bit, like 20 degrees. Also, the handles were much larger than they should have been. If I had to make these clamps all over again, I'd snip the handles of this tool by at…
