Excellent for cutting potatoes, but requires some effort. Our problem was that he cut my finger the first time I tried to clean it. The three metal plates on the sides and bottom are very sharp-edged and not smoothed. This is a very serious hazard that should be taken into account. I'm not sure if this is my fault or if all items are made the same way.

On January 28, 2019 I bought Sopito fries. It has worked about 4 or 5 times, after which the locking tab broke on the black plastic insert that is squeezing the potatoes. This makes the cutter almost useless as the insert won't stay in line with the cutter head and you end up with plastic shavings in the potato. I need a replacement part but it was difficult to contact the manufacturer.

I bought this cut for sopito fries for my daughter. Very sharp blade, cuts quickly and conveniently. Not bulky and heavy like other restaurant fryers. I only gave it 4 stars because the fries didn't have a 3/8 inch blade, so we use a blade larger than 1/2 inch on her. My daughter tells me she loves it and lives nearby so I borrow it when I'm in the mood for some homemade fries. When I received it it was already assembled and easy to clean. I just got this a few days ago and I've already used daylight from it! I've made beef stew and we all know how hard it is to dice potatoes and carrots. It always takes about 2+ hours to get everything ready before I can turn on the slow cooker. With this item, the time has been reduced to less than an hour! This is actually well built. I bought this to cut up sweet potatoes for deep frying. It takes a little muscle power to cut a sweet potato because it's very dense. I cut a regular potato just to see the difference and she cut it easily. I've never worried about it breaking or bending under the force required to slice a sweet potato.
