First I gave a bad review in the heat of the moment and I don't know how to edit it so here it is. Once figured out where to direct the air, they exploded and functioned normally. I don't see any issues with shipping or using it for other things like candles. You need to put instructions in the package so you don't have to look up what to do.

Perfect for taking wine back on the plane! We used a simple empty wine case crate big enough for 8 bottles laid on its side rather than the side. So be aware that protectors take up a lot of space! Each bottle arrived safely at home. Hooray! I am passing them on to a friend for her trip; They hold up great but don't deflate once inflated.

The name says it all. Packing the bottles was easy enough, but one of them broke on the way, although not only that, but adding extra paper/bubble wrap to the box. It might just have been a shipping issue with the carrier, but I had concerns before shipping because it just didn't seem like they had protected the bottles as well as I had hoped.

Use wine protector when traveling It works well and I've never had a broken bottle. It's easy to pump. I've reused the protectors (if the purpose is single use it's a waste of plastic) but I haven't figured out how to deflate the protector. So I have to carry it empty but inflated, which takes up extra space in my luggage. I wish we could easily dump it so it's easier to reuse.

Used to return from Italy. In fact, 2 bottles of wine of 750 ml are placed in separate bags. The pump worked and made a good barrier to bubble wrap. We came home without a loss. I rarely watch anything but I have to because I'm so happy with it! Daughter needed a way to get her favorite Indiana wine back to Montana (not sold anywhere except Indiana) so based on other reviews we decided to try them in her checked luggage. We put four bottles in protectors amidst a pile of clothes and other things in a hard case. Arriving at MT she noticed a huge dent in the corner of her brand new suitcase and figured it had to be badly damaged to withstand such damage (thanks United!).
