Be careful with the veneer and you will avoid tearing it.

Despite the 1 star these trimmers work great on veneer if you take a little care and cut in the right direction. In fact, this particular trimmer is excellent because you can easily separate the halves so you're only trimming one side. Be careful to cut in a direction where the blades will not pull the grain away from the work piece. If the fibers are not parallel to the workpiece, cut one side at a time in a direction that does not break the fibers. This applies to every trimmer of this type…

If you make more than one roll of veneer, buy them. If not, see below.

As the title says buy this if you plan to use more than one roll of veneer. This works well, but you'll need a bit of practice to make sure you know what it's like for the blade to "bite" and cut properly. I also used the trick of splitting the two halves apart so I can just work one edge at a time, which is less likely to mess up your work. If you just want to build a few shelves and need less than a roll of veneer, buy a pack of new utility knife blades and use those instead! No matter which…

Horribly faulty product

So many Fastcap products are top notch that I bought this scope without realizing it, thinking it would be easier and safer to use as alternatives. Unfortunately the opposite is the case. It takes a lot of practice to use this product properly, and you're just as likely to damage the end result as if you were to use other flush trimming products - such as B. a utility knife or a flush cutter on your router. Perhaps the biggest disadvantage is the assumption that the grain direction will be…

Works great on T-Moulding

I built a Lightning McQueen double bed for my grandson's 3rd birthday. I had to add a T molding around the edges and had to cut about 1/8" off each side. I read online that it was a tool for the job (after trying to use a new razor blade as a test. it didn't). it works too well.) I saw a YouTube video that gave good advice: To make a T-bar (especially if you have some radius on final install), lay the T-bar on a straight edge section, and trim it there first (move the T-shape along the straight

Not the best of knife blades

I had high hopes for this but couldn't get consistent results. Overall, I messed up more edge tape than I succeeded. This can work well on composite materials like melamine, but for wood I would look elsewhere. The biggest problem, as mentioned in some other reviews, is that the grain can change direction within the piece or it takes a little time to figure out which direction the grain is moving. The cuts from it are pretty aggressive and can easily rip the tape off. I've found that using an…
