Worked on my 98 TJ too!

I bought these for a tailgate latch clip that broke on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Stealership wanted $20 for the clip, I tipped them off and did a little internet searching and found this. I had no proof that these clamps would work, I just looked at them and realized it was possible. For $6 why not. I was very happy with the results. In fact, the red clip ended up in my side door, which also had a broken clip. Very satisfied, the doors now work great!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Perfect fit and cheaper than in the auto parts store.

The trunk handle wouldn't open on the GMC Sierra, these things broke. In auto parts stores, the handle is sold as a whole. Mine broke, I had to order a new one. The clips worked perfectly. Don't forget to put a rag under the levers so you don't drop the clips in the tailgate. Installation takes 2 minutes at most. An auto parts store sells the entire grip and bezel as a unit for $30 to $40. I spent $16 because the bezel cracked. The panel has no effect on the function of the trunk.

Does what it says on the tin

The fact that GM, aka Government Motors (an acronym to be rescued), uses plastic clips to hold the bars in the tailgate is just plain silly. However, these clips are PERFECT and will replace OEM clips if they break. And they will break. 2007 GMC 1500 - Remove the bottom screw and pull the tailgate handle toward you. It pops out so you can insert the plastic piece into the hole it needs to go in and then just snap the bar into place. Reattach the handle and you can roll again.

Perfect fit for 2004 Silverado

Perfect fit for 2004 Silverado What a disgusting feeling when you can't open the tailgate! Luckily I was home and didn't do anything important (in fact, I had just finished installing a hinge lock after my daughter's tailgate was stolen from her Tacoma). In any case, if you want to open the rear door, you must dismantle the handle. If these clips last 10 years then they are amazing value. As others have pointed out, be careful not to drop the clip or pole as it's no fun fishing them out of the…

Good manufacturer replacement

Although I think they are overpriced for the plastic parts but having seen some of the others available I would say the quality is better. Like so many other things GM made, these parts are designed to fail after so many uses. That being said, this year was the first time I had to replace them on my 2004 Sierra. However, I have never had to change anything on my 1978 Silverado tailgate. No plastic parts! As for installation, I would suggest inserting them into the locking holes first and then…

  • Could have gone for a newer model
