Heavy-duty external accessories

Works great. And it fits exactly. I really had to drill two holes for my old '85 Dodge W350 and wish I'd ordered a bigger drill bit or hole saw blade instead of driving around town.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Functionality

Install my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 without drilling.

Fits my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 without drilling additional holes. As expected, it's quite difficult. The only downside was that the case that came with it broke during shipping.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Very strong hitch

Mounting brackets are interchangeable allowing for multiple mounting options. Drilling is required for Tundra 2000 (expanding 2 holes and starting 2 more). When assembling by hand, the brackets will want to come loose, but once all the screws are tightened, it becomes nice and convenient. I recommend 2 people or take it to a professional. Make sure they use spacers.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Expensive

Reese Towpower heavy duty hitch.

This is a very strong clutch. The holes will need to be drilled for this to fit many vehicles. I bought this hitch for a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The instructions are a bit sketchy until you realize that the pre-drilled and tapped holes are in the frame but are used for a smaller hitch and 1/2" bolts. I drilled the other set of holes closer to the bumper with a 5/8 bit. If the side brackets attach to these holes, you will need to drill a hole closer to the front of the truck for the other end of the

A little too much for a guy with broken shoulders but I managed it on my own. I would suggest helping with lifting. I had to cut off the tab that was supposed to be holding the electrical connector. I also had to bend the existing bracket to do this and haven't managed to get it back to normal yet. With two people, the cutting might not have been necessary, but I'm not sure. A pair of 4"C clamps made drilling easier. Get a carbide drill bit. My new wood/metal drill bit broke but barely finished

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • I don't remember but it was something

Disappointed in Reese

Very disappointed with fit/finish and packaging. The packaging was damaged in transit (heavy boxes, I expect) but the paint peeled right out of the box in places and some of the hardware was missing. This was on my Old Body Style GMC 2500 (1998) with the factory rear bumper. The brackets provided did not match the existing holes as shown in the instructions. I ended up having to hit the spring mounts on the truck frame with a sledgehammer to buy about 1/4 inch of play. Then I had to move the…
