Useless tool for detecting refrigerants

Automotive workers beware! After trying this product, I found it to be completely useless in detecting refrigerants in air conditioning systems. The adjustable sensitivity is unreliable and the overall construction is flimsy. However, the only pro of this product is its affordable price. Save your money and invest in a higher quality refrigerant detector.

Very sensitive, works as described

Great leak detector for the money. As with all leak detectors, sensitivity adjustment (calibration) is very important to get accurate results. This sniffer is very sensitive and will come in handy in hard-to-reach places. The probe is a good size and is also ribbed enough to get into those hard-to-reach places. The sound is loud enough and the lights will warn you when you find a leak in the system. This tool, like most others, takes a little time to learn and use effectively before you get the

Feels like Freon - that's for sure

I tried it on my tank with the R22 pumped out and it all worked (see video). So I'm sure this sensor will react to a leak. The downside is that it also reacts to a number of things - if you breathe it in or touch it, it also reacts to the insulating foam around the suction line if it's close enough. In general it will work, but be prepared for false positives. It comes with a nice cloth case and a couple of spare attachments, as well as cheap batteries (custom sized so it's good they put a few…
