Terrible. He says 29-49 inches but basically he can't do many sizes in between. It has only two extensions that have been given dimensions. So if your area doesn't match the size of your extension, you'll see you screwed up. I told customer service we had 40 inches and it didn't work and they told me to buy another extension. That's how I did it and it still doesn't work. .How it got good reviews is beyond me.

I believe my doorway is about 49 inches (maybe 47.5) and fits great with extensions. It was easy to install by yourself. I bought it for small 4 and 5 lb dogs so I wouldn't even get caught on the handle (the handle is very secure). I just leave it closed/unlatched. I'm not sure how strong it will be if you put pressure on a big dog or a kid. The spacing between the bars is small enough that my dogs can't get through.

It has tension to hold it in place but it's not really a tension gate. You still need to drill into the wall to install it. At first I thought it was a defective product as there was a gap between the gate striker. Read the full manual and think maybe it was designed that way for some weird reason that wasn't mentioned. After the rejection, I find a note that says it's defective, there should be a gap. That should have been in the instructions. I would buy another gate if I knew all that.

I bought this railing to use on my stairs but ended up using it elsewhere. I ordered a part for the stair spindle but it didn't fit this gate. Now I know it has to be an 8mm spindle bit. All other ladder items are not suitable for this gate. Although it will stretch to 49 inches, there are gaps in that area where it won't work, so measure carefully and read the description of the areas. Great goal! My husband and I use this to separate the entrance and living room so we can open the door so our two dogs don't get in the way of the guest. I'm not sure why people say it's difficult to install as my husband installed it within 10-15 minutes.
