NOT for Verado!: Replacement part

did NOT work on the 300 Verado. There was a lot of installation work and then had to go through everything again to find a new pump. My 55 mph boat would not go over 30 mph. Anything over 30 and the engine will choke and die. Luckily I was able to get home at a speed of 30 miles per hour. Maybe for engines that don't need a lot of fuel pressure, but not for the Mercury Verado!

Didn't work for me

Mercury Optimax 150hp 2006 not working. But it will work. That's pressure enough. Like fools, gold. Brought back from boat shop, drove 2 minutes and engine started to lose power. Concluded that proper fuel pressure was not present. It costs a lot of money to replace it again. It's much cheaper than OEM, but I spent the difference because I had to replace it with OEM.

Will not work with Mercury DFI or Verado outboard engines.

I tried this pump on Mercury Optimax and Verado and it didn't work. The Verado engine was able to start but would not accelerate in the water. Optimax doesn't even start. Mercury engines require gas at a pressure of at least 80psi and this pump, although good looking and of good quality, does not provide enough pressure for these engines.

Pros
  • Electric fuel pumps
Cons
  • Some errors

Great pump at a great price!

I installed this yesterday and it worked great. I used to have a Walbro pump installed, but it broke after a few months and cost twice as much. I chose this one because of the reviews and because the company offers a lifetime guarantee. I don't normally leave reviews but how well this worked I had to do. Not only did it work, but it was also very quiet. I installed this on a Mercury Optimax 225hp. 1999

Quick/Easy Installation - Improved Performance

I've had problems with my 2000 Mercury Optimax 150 where it would run fairly rough or just shut off at < 800 RPM. Rail fuel pressure at idle. I removed the VST and pulled out the high pressure fuel pump. My initial hope was that the air intake (and/or tank) was dirty and that wasn't causing fuel flow, but everything turned out surprisingly clean. I then connected the pump to the battery and it became apparent that the existing pump was failing. Obviously this has nothing to do with checking…
