🚲 Retrospec Dakota Bike & Skate Helmet for Adults - Commuter, Skateboard, Scooter, Longboard & Incline Skating - Impact-Resistant & Enhanced Ventilation Review

I bought this helmet because I thought it would be cool look. Also, it looks cool, simple and spartan. But wow, oversized, that's an unattractive helmet once on my head. It does have a lot of padding though, is EXTREMELY thick and will likely be very protective in a crash. But an ugly, big, uncomfortable helmet is less likely to be worn. So it's time to get me another helmet.

Good robust yet light helmet. Only one thing keeps it from 5 stars - SIZE. I ordered L which should be 58-63 cm (23.25-24.75 inch). My large bowler hat is 60cm which is right in the middle of the size range. I can put it on but it's so tight I'm afraid to sneeze to keep my eyes from falling out! I wanted to return it. but it fits my daughter perfectly. She is 16 years old and has a 22.5 inch skullcap.

I would give this helmet 50 stars if I could. I cycled on the sidewalk. A branch hung over the sidewalk. I crouched slightly to avoid the limb and was tied to the power tower support cable rope. The cable hit me over the helmet, throwing me off my bike. I landed on my hip and the back of my head was thrown backwards, hitting the side aisle very hard. I even walked without a concussion. I have a bit of a headache at night, that's all. This helmet did its job perfectly. More than satisfied.

I just got into BMX riding and wanted a helmet that would look more like BMX and skateboarding than commuting or mountain biking. This helmet is not the smaller shell I was hoping for. In fact, it's the largest helmet shell I've ever worn, suitable for vaudeville duties. I first bought one of the other popular helmets in a large size, just over 23 inches. It was the largest I could buy in a helmet like this. My head size is just over 23 inches and it had an adjustable head strap so I figured it would be fine. In the end it was too tight. Seems to help. Accident and human survival reviews made me buy it. The thing is solid and a little heavier than a regular bike helmet, but I'm sure I'll be able to cope just fine in the event of an accident. It also comes with alternative padding on the inside, which is good if you need to make it a bit smaller/narrower (I didn't, but I appreciated it). Updated 05/29/2018.
