Less than expected

Seemingly good product but they do not fold and instead have at least 1/8 play on the hinge side which will move the door 1/8 inch. At least away from the post. I had to remove them and install the old hinges so I could close the door. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Out of style

Missing screws. Doesn't close completely.

As other reviewers have noted, two of the three hinges do NOT fully close. Also, those three hinges didn't come with enough screws. Eight holes per hinge, each should have 8 screws. Those two issues aside, the hinges are solid and have the nice black color that we wanted.

DOESN'T STAND OUT!

The manufacturing process of these hinges needs to be corrected. When folded, the two sides are NOT next to each other. This means that there is a gap on the hinge side of your door and it MAY NOT SEAL PROPERLY! I put mine in a vise to bend them a bit so they lay flat which helped but my door still rubs!

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Eliminate the gap with Channellock, quick and easy.

As mentioned, these hinges are not flush. We dressed them as they are and couldn't close the door. I saw a review about using a vise but my husband opened the loop outwards and applied a little pressure with a channel lock (pliers) which tightened the loop and made it perfectly flat (see pic, hard to explain in writing) . This solved the problem with the door closing. It was very easy to fix.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Can be retrofitted

Risk taken didn't pay off.

After reading the reviews I was hoping they would match my doors but was still skeptical. The reviews I read were correct, the hinge doesn't close completely making it almost impossible to close the door. They also came with an odd set of screws, but not enough of one type to use on all three hinges. I'm glad I didn't buy enough for all my front doors. Unfortunately it didn't work and these special loops are nowhere else to be found.

Reversed pins

This is not an exact replacement. My doors are about twenty years old. The radius side fitted well. However, the square side holes did not match exactly. The hinges moved the door slightly away from the door seal. After figuring out what was wrong, aligning the door properly, and re-drilling the holes, the hinges worked. The hinges still squeaked a little, so I had to add some WD-40. As an advanced all-rounder they have performed, but don't expect an exact replacement for one on older doors. A…

Beautiful but disappointing!

These bars are nice and strong, just what we wanted in color and finish, but they're not flush. The pre-installation photos show the gap between the hinge plates. This gap prevents the entire door from closing tightly from the back of the door and leaves a gap between the door and the frame that lets sunlight and all the cold in and out. It also pushes the door forward, which pulls the door forward as it closes. We need our handyman to deepen the cutout in the frame to hopefully fix the…

Buyer Warning. no flat hinge in the closed position

If your door is relatively narrow with the current hinges you have on it, stay away. Unfortunately, with door hardware, you get what you pay for. This week I wanted to switch all the decor to black after freshly painting the front door. New latch, fresh new handle etc. I thought the hinges were really going to pop. Luckily I've only tried this one at a time when the door was raised, but quickly discovered that the hinges are manufactured and forged so they don't lie flat against each other…

The gap problem can be fixed!

As others have reported there is excessive clearance between the frame hinge and the door hinge in the closed position. The good news is that there is an easy fix to the problem. Place the hinge in the fully open position in a vise and tighten as shown. The hinge flexes at the hinge to allow it to close much tighter in the closed position. I did this several times until I reduced the distance between the hinges to about 1/8 inch. This requires some strength, so it may not work with a light…
