Description of Robinair 18560 Refrigeration Remover Lnstaller

Robinair Air Conditioning Valve Core Remover and lnstaller - the ideal tool for replacing damaged valve cores or performing A/C or refrigeration service that necessitates valve core removal. Attaches to 1/4 inch male flare access fittings and allows valve core removal and replacement without loss of refrigerant. Durable, solid brass tool has a ball valve that can be opened and closed in just a quarter-turn, rather than a slower to operate stem-type valve. Ball valve features a corrosion resistant stainless steel ball for smooth action and a reliable seal. Durable brazed side fitting allows system access for various A/C service procedures.

Works great, no complaints

Holds vacuum, allows separate micrometer probe on 3rd port which can be overridden to measure micrometers in circuit without pump/vacuum line measurement. Works great, no complaints.

Built for function.

Manufactured from high quality brass and precisely designed to function as an AC valve core replacement. I swapped out R22 and R410A valve cores in minutes. I can't think of a better one than this one.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Small parts

The work is not as smooth as my previous one.

Doesn't work as smoothly as the previous one I replaced. It usually takes several tries to remove the valve with this puller. Sometimes I have to resort to blowing with the residual pressure.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Minor issues

Doesn't live up to brand reputation

A big brand usually has pretty good stuff, but they're far from it. Will not be tightened enough to leak through the valve. When used for the first time, both seals had to be replaced. Even if new yellow gaskets leak in the valve on the suction side, the 410a will attempt to replace the failed valve stem.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Marketable

I couldn't remove

The core didn't pull out with the tool but I was able to install the core after creating a vacuum without bleeding the system. When I first used it, I was actually able to remove the kernel from the old system, but it was very stuck in the tool. After I pulled it out, the fit in every other core was too loose to grab and pull out.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Some errors

Good but not great

It does what it's supposed to do, but with one major drawback: thanks to the handle on the ball valve, there's not much room to close the valve or you have to use the tool like that position that the side of the connector was not available. There are other tools on the ball valve with round knobs instead of levers that are MUCH easier and more convenient to use.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • There are flaws

I was really excited about this device! Good product.

I was really impressed with this unit. I saw similar products on YouTube. I needed to replace a leaking valve core on the high pressure side of my air conditioner on my old Toyota Camry that uses R-12 refrigerant. When I opened the package I saw that it was a quality product. It's very well done. It was very easy to use even though it was my first time doing such a task. I've called every local auto parts store in the area and they haven't even heard of a tool that allows you to change the…

Good if you like fishing but not as easy to use as a similar brand C&D

I had to replace two valve cores on my home air conditioner. I bought an old C&D Valve heat exchanger at a local flea market and noticed that when I tried to use it there was a leak around the shaft on the back. So I went with this Robinair because it looked like a C&D and was made out of solid brass. After I bought the Robinair, I found that I could buy a replacement rod with a leaking C&D cartridge I had, so I decided to buy this replacement rod assembly to see if that would fix the C&D leak…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • The list will go on.
