Great tool.

This makes docking Dyneema easy. I mainly use it to make soft bondage. This is a great tool and almost essential for a marine rigger if you ask me. One tip, since it's meant for a small cord, take your time working the cord rather than trying to push things through when splicing. Needles bend easily if you use too much force. If you work slowly with the line, it will stretch.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I will add later

Makes splicing easier

I splice A LOT Campingamstal. I used knitting needles and a CAT5 wire harness to splice 7/64" and 1/8" Amstylia. This makes splicing much faster, easier and cleaner. I found it difficult to justify buying this tool for my hobby, but now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Now I can work in my Scout Squad, kicking UCRs, Slings, and Infinite Loops. Hammock campers are spliced, not untied. ;)

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some little things

Working in a rigging shop and collecting all sorts of tools for every job. I bought this product to work with small items/thin rope. However, I have found this tool also useful for some of the more common connections where there is a very tight fit with a tube or swedish liner. For example, it can be difficult to insert a cap into a spliced core section (such as a double-braided peephole), but the thin wire slides easily past the spliced core and then pulls the cap through nicely. However…

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
