Regular customer of Rowa. Great price

I have been using Rowa for phosphate reduction for many years. I have been dealing with seawater since 1986. It works better than any product I've tried. Everyone else claims to work, but Rowa works! Great price for Revain

  • High test results for hold and durability

I think gfo is gfo?!?!?!

I had high hopes for this product based on the reviews. I did not bring my ro4 to 0. It works the same as Marine Depot's Aquamax HFO, but the price of Rouafos is much higher. I would recommend you save money and get more bang for your buck by going with aquamaxx gfo. This stuff works at reducing/removing phosphates but compared to other brands it's not as good as I thought it would be.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Doubtful

GREAT MATERIAL! - Fish and aquatic animals

EXCELLENT product. My phosphates were cut in half in 24 hours. ALWAYS flush or drain about a gallon and a half of this product before pouring it into the tank. It is also recommended to use a thinner mat or pillow on it. The granules are very small and can quickly penetrate the supplied black sieve. But overall, it's a great way to reduce phosphate. I run a 2 Fishes 150 reactor on a 135 gallon tank/sump.

  • Easy to use

Brown Algae Problem Solved

This stuff was very helpful in stopping the seaweed outbreak in my 34 gallon cube with 20 gallon pan. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate were 0 and phosphate was barely above 0. I don't have a phosphate test so all I can say is that the color is slightly off the 0ppm reading. The next gradient is 5 ppm. Place this substance in the bag provided and hang it on the outlet of my skimmer. After about a week, the brown algae were gone.

Pros
  • Hands-Free Operation
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Hairalgae is almost gone (finally)

I used this in my phosphate reactor after an ongoing problem with hairalgae in a well established reef tank. Phosphates were low when tested but could be found which was unacceptable! After about a month of manually removing as much algae as possible when changing the water and operating the reactor with ROWAphos, my algae have drastically reduced and can hardly be felt. I just placed my 2nd order!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Operating speed

works but not easy to use

I found this medium difficult to use. It's very fine-grained, so it's harder to get a flow rate on a reactor than on other media; too high a flow blows GFO out of the reactor. Starting up the reactor (BRS reactor) from top to bottom led to the medium sticking. The sachet (included in 100ml and 250ml sizes) is very dense (like a felt filter sock) and clogs too quickly to be useful. However, ROWAphos removed more PO4 than the BRS HC environment, which I've switched to now.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • not everything fits

and I put it in a fine mesh bag like I always do with my reactor.

Back to my usual AquaMaxx Phohate Out Pro. The product came out of the container wet (which is probably normal) and I placed it in a fine mesh bag as I always do with reactor media (combination of carbon and phosphate removal). I washed the charcoal for a few minutes, put it in the reactor and lit it. Suddenly a stream of brown colored water poured into my pan and through the whole aquarium. What a mess! Luckily I'm going to change the water today and I have return filters in the pan. Hope it…

It works. but pay attention to the grain size

I have used BRS GFO but based on some recommendations decided to give ROWAphos a try. The first thing I have to do is get out of the way. Don't believe the hype that this medium doesn't need to be flushed. Be sure to flush the media. This is not a blow to the product but simply to dispel the bad information that is floating around. The product works well with it. My only complaint is with the grain size. In general, it is slightly smaller than the large-capacity BRS. This proved to be a problem

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Protection

Not as advertised - particles too small to keep in a pouch.

I have some problems with this product. I used it on Triton's recommendation after sending in a water sample for ICP testing. gallons including sump. I put it in the media reactor and measured the PO4 both inside the tank and outside the media reactor. After 3 days only a slight decrease in PO4 was observed. My PO4 was quite high at 0.34ppm using a Hanna ULR meter. The best I could get after 4 days was 0.23ppm. I switched back to SeaChem Phosgaurd. Starting at 0.23 ppm at 8:42 a.m., it fell to…
