Cable stopper: cable

Need a cable stopper for my winch cable. I liked 2 pieces. Design. Easy to install on a synthetic winch line. When I returned to my shop the next day to install a winch line on my winch, the cord stopper was in a dozen little pieces. I couldn't tell at the time whether I overtightened the small nuts to cause damage. It would be better if it happened now than for the winch hook to destroy the winch. Ordered a KFI cork hoping for a better product.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Ease of installation. best towing products and winches

I fitted this to a Badlands 12000# winch that I installed on a car trailer. The biggest advantage for me was that it splits in half and installing it on the cable was very easy as you don't have to unwrap the cable. Before installing I had to drill the center hole by threading the stopper into a vise and using a 1/2" bit. I am in the process of installing another winch stopper on my 1993 F250.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Absolute rubbish. in Towing Articles and Winches

At first there seemed to be some substance in this article. I attached it so that I could barely grab the winch rope. After putting it on the floor I came back to it after 5 minutes to find that it had started to tear revealing a hollow interior with some cross structure inside to give it some stiffness. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! It will definitely stand up to ANY use if it doesn't even take a few turns of the screw you get to install it and even tightened enough to hold it securely to the rope.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Dear product lost in shipping Prime

If you want a good product buy this. If you want to get it during Prime's two-day shipping, try a different product. Good thing after two days (and sometimes less) I didn't really need it because it was originally listed as a THREE day delivery time and still PRIME but that was four days before I saw it. the distributor of this product MUST NOT list it as PRIME! However, I could not cut the quality. Buyers"PRIME" be alert. One final comment: I've had non-PRIME products delivered in three daysโ€ฆ

Works well: Cable

I bought this cable stop because it comes in two pieces which makes it easy to install. I only gave it four stars because the instructions state that a washer must be placed in the hole before screwing the halves together. The hole is smaller than the washer, so the washer must be inserted into the hole with an object. I pulled the washer into the hole by tightening the nut on the bolt on the other side of the stopper half. Both sides cannot be used because the bolt is not long enough. I likeโ€ฆ

  • Good item
Cons

Cable stopper may be a misnomer

This small mistake prevents the hook on the end of the winch cable from hitting the fairlead when the winch is not in use. However, this is unlikely to be a cable jam. ANY winch will explode from this thing if you let it continue to pull as soon as the stopper hits the fairlead. The little bug is a bit fiddly to attach as the washers have to be put in the hole. Also, I found the bolts were too long, so I sawed them off. I think I have to say that the price seems a bit high for what you get. But

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • There are problems

Great cable tie! Much easier to install than the original cable stops!

I gave this product 5 stars because of the ease of installation and the quality of the product. If you've used these cord stops before but had one that didn't split in two. You know how hard it is to get a winch loop cable through a little rubber hole. For me it was always a good 30 minutes trying to get a cable through a small hole. Rugged Ridge made it so much easier! The rubber part is divided into 2 halves and fastened with 2 screws. I installed one of these on my 12 CanAm Commander 1000โ€ฆ
