As they are advertised as table legs I assumed they were more for decoration than the ones you can easily buy at the hardware store. So they had grease on the outside like your typical water pipes you buy at your local hardware store. It's not a big deal, just needs a little cleaning, but the kit doesn't include all the parts needed for assembly. I have ordered several sets of PipeDecor - all disappointed for the following reasons: 1. Several pipes were damaged, with long, sharp indentations on the sides that could easily damage the skin.2. All were covered with a stubborn layer of oily grime that neither rubbing nor wet towels could completely remove. Looking back, if I could do it all over again I would not have made this purchase. In the package I received was a tube with a large smudge of glue which, even after cleaning with acetone as directed, was a different color as if it were the remnants of a sticker at a later stage in the manufacturing process.
