NOT wooden, NOT bird proof, once cut with a beak it will fall apart on its own.

It was less than 20 minutes in my sun conure cage before she almost chewed it through. It's NOT wood, it's something like pressed chipboard. I'm really glad I was only gone 20 minutes because I have no idea what it's all made of, but I'm pretty sure it's not birdproof, whatever it is. It appears to be made from several different materials, such as wood, that are finely ground, mixed with some sort of glue, and pressed into a mold. Although I took it out IMMEDIATELY, I do watch for signs ofโ€ฆ

Ideal for small birds - parrots, parakeets, kennels

This is a good solid perch with a good rough finish and shape that promotes good paw health for your bird. I have a large size which I would recommend if you are buying for a cockatiel or kennel. Even parrots can comfortably use the large size. I wouldn't buy this if you want to get a pole for something other than a kennel. My cockatiel seems to like this perch and enjoys climbing and nibbling on it. The only problem is that one of the bolts on my bar tends to loosen if I overtighten the wingโ€ฆ

Too small for most parrots but not a manufacturer defect

The image on this item is misleading. It shows how the bluegill appears to be a dwarf against the background of this perch. In fact it is very small. Luckily I bought this for my Senegal (a smaller species of parrot) and she loves it. I wouldn't buy this for Revain or Grey. Hello, I'm just updating this review to say that the seller refunded me for this item. I am very grateful as my Senegal has already chewed on the perch and rendered it virtually useless. This would be ideal for budgies orโ€ฆ
