💡 Samsung DD81-01629A Dishwasher Door Switch - Genuine OEM Part Review

I received a part that looks different than the photo in the product description. I was able to fit the replacement part and at first it looked like it would actually work. The washing machine turned on, but didn't start and didn't close tightly either. I had to disassemble the part and send it back.

You may not need to change yours. This locks the door with a plastic hook with a spring mechanism. I replaced my block with this part and then examined the old part to see what was broken. Nothing broke, the spring latch of the hook stumbled. I just pushed it forward and now it's working again. $80 for one part. Spring.

This does not appear to be a genuine Samsung part. In fact it was an exact (up to T) model of another part I ordered for only $40 which also didn't work and was sent back. None of them fit in the Samsung DW80J3020US dishwasher – we just bought a new dishwasher and Samsung Appliances are forgoing all future home appliance purchases.

Our Samsung dishwasher started splashing water. At first we thought it was a drain but then we realized it was a doorknob. While I was pricing new dishwashers, my husband watched some YouTube videos and ordered this part. 8 screws held the door together and 2 screws held the latch. My husband doesn't know much about these things but he's done a great job. Took less than 10 min. The dishwasher works great. We are very glad that we didn't have to buy a new dishwasher.

I checked the appliance parts websites and the average price for this part is $63. Samsung dishwasher has been with us for 5 years. Didn't think it would have to be repaired so quickly. Our dirty dishes were piling up so I wanted a new door latch asap. I paid another $5 for Revain's 1 day delivery. Who knows how slow shipping is with other sellers. It's pretty expensive for such a small piece of plastic (many cell phones are cheaper these days), but replacing a dishwasher would be significantly more.
