i like it ass in TV & Video

It's better than paying $20 a month to rent Time Warner, but it has its downsides. THE FIRST. After Q1 2016, the EPG description field still appears blank (no longer works), but the channel guide and channel list are still displayed correctly. However, I got a message that the EPG was no longer working properly. 2. This MEDIA PLAYER is not compatible with LG Magic remote control. On the other hand, once paired, it works flawlessly with the Samsung TV Magic Remote. The device's BD Wise syncs…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent

GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO BOX CABLE COMPANY!

This is a really cool alternative to the branded cable box. Return the box to the cable company and the rented cable card. The difference in the monthly cost is used to pay for the purchase of this device. We didn't have expanded digital channels on the old set top box (didn't want to pay the extra rent to upgrade) but after installing this set top box they got cheaper. A little difficult to understand, initial setup, but it's working great now! The only downside may be the inability to get any

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CHARACTER TO ANYONE

First of all I hate everything about this device, it took me 3 days to set it up to work with my TV provider. It then turns on at night or during the day and I corrected that setting and it still does. Every once in a while it cuts out in the middle of a TV show and then says no signal and you have to restart it, and it also overheats all the time and shuts off completely a couple of times and doesn't start for about 10 minutes. Let me tell you this thing is worse than Charter Spectrum cable…

Cons

The device was difficult to activate because the cable provider did not know that they had to connect the box to the circuit board. I think they just wanted to wear me down. The box was good once properly activated. At first it lost the WFI connection, but now everything works fine. Don't expect the guide to give you more information than the channel, no information at all works. I was also able to update the software, I think Samsung still supports some parts of the device. I wanted to return…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Nothing

Excellent electronics packaging and fast delivery from this supplier. This is our third Samsung Smart Media Player. The first two paid for themselves in 11 or 12 months by saving on the cable provider's set-top box rental, and both are still doing well after more than two years. From time to time we have minor problems updating the Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Sometimes you need to contact Samsung to get the guide working again, or just use one of the free lists of programs online. This…

Down with the old, join the new.

I bought a Samsung GX-SM530CF receiver to replace a super large, outdated and clunky Motorola set top box provided by Verizon FIOS (now Frontier Communications FIOS). Very old Motorola consoles are huge, hot, unreliable and uncomfortable, and we hated them. These Samsung boxes take up literally a tenth of the space of Motorola boxes, giving the TV many smart TV capabilities as well as the ability to add features. They connect to the same cable via a pluggable cable card. However, they don't…

A great alternative to renting cable boxes from a cable company.

I've decided to stop paying Charter/Spectrums $7.99 (per box) for cable box rentals. Instead, I pay $2.00 (per CableCARD). For those considering this route, you will need to request a CableCARD and adapter to set it up on Charter/Spectrum. If you don't have a tuning adapter (Cisco STA1520), you will lose SDV (Switched Digital Video) channels, which are about half your channels. Setup instructions come with Samsung box and setup adapter. One suggestion I would like to make is this: instead of…

  • Pretty impressive

  • boring packaging
