Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

The device pleases. Every day, turning over files of several gigabytes and hundreds of layers in Photoshop, I am satisfied with the device. Life blossomed with new colors. Worth your money.

    Pros
    • The device is well made. Nice design, heavy item. It looks like a lot of metal. The speed of work is excellent. Works like an internal drive. Transferred to it the swap disks of Photoshop and After. For new Makovsky laptops, the output is excellent. With their very modest built-in drives, there is no other way out.
    Cons
    • I did not notice any shortcomings. Surprised the first time heating. I worked intensively and as a result, the temperature of the case became significant. But then I read that this is normal. To do this, they have so much metal and built into the design.

A great option for this money, I definitely recommend it!

Last year, when ating iMac, I initially counted on upgrading from a stock FD to this SSD (well, RAM, of course), which allowed me to save on these options and focus on choosing a processor / video card. As a result, all my expectations were fully justified: the system disk (currently the beta version of Big Sur), bootable, fast, silent . Yes, and just beautiful, since we are talking about an external drive. Posting a new aimak, well, this is such an option, so-so . And here is a completely…

    Pros
    • Design Build quality Work speed
    Cons
    • Not detected

on Amazon, the first disc came out cheaper - about 12 thousand, but after the introduction of a limit of 200 euros, it is not very profitable to take it in the USA, the exchange rate also negatively affects Has pros: best and fastest NVMe SSD I bought the minimum volume, its charm is that it is collapsible and you can install a larger SSD, how much money is enough) I use it as a boot drive on an iMac 5K 27" 2022 Also good as an external drive for video editing and other tasks where read / write

I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

I am very satisfied with the drive, comnsidering that my laptop is equipped with a Thunderbolt3 port Who has Windows 7 or 8 and has a USB type-s 3.1 port in thecommputer (laptop) (with Thunderbolt3 support), you must first install the Thunderbolt driver from the dell.Comdeveloper site (In Windows 10, this driver is already installed by default) ? driverid=0f5xw Otherwise, when you stick this drive into thecommputer, it simply won't notice it.

    Pros
    • Simply amazing read speed for an external SSD drive - about 2700 Mb / s Very fast write speed about 590-600 Mb/s
    Cons
    • I expected a higher write speed, but given that I have a USB type-s 3.1 port in my laptop (with Thunderbolt3 support) of the first generation (gen-1), and not (gen-2), this is quite understandable

Good product, more pros than cons.

With its pros. Very fast and compact. The speed is almost identical to the internal ssd inside the iMac 24 (m1). Different cons: It heats up noticeably, even when there is no noticeable load. I don't know how much it will affect the lifespan. When heated, the speed sags, but not much.

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product for me, no problems at all.

Got pros: Very fast (results on my computer are 2700 reads and 1700 writes) Different cons: The recording speed is slightly lower than stated (about 1700). However, the problem may not be in the disk, but in the port of the computer (I use it in conjunction with iMac 2022)

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Normal quality, you can use it.

I took a drive to replace the Samsung T5 with USB-C in the hope of greater speed. But if the T5 was impenetrably reliable, then the X5 (as I already wrote in the shortcomings) periodically falls off on my Macbook. I use the disk for a large catalog of photos in RAW, I work with them in Capture One. For such a task, the difference in speed between T5 and X5 is not noticeable, so I went back to T5 - it's more reliable.

    Pros
    • - Excellent read / write speed, almost comparable to internal drives. There is nowhere higher for an external drive. - High-quality assembly and materials, beautiful packaging. It feels like a branded item, not a cheap noname. - I have no complaints about the heat. Of course, it gets hotter than a USB drive, but here the speeds are different. Do not cover the top of the device with a sweater or tablecloth, and it will not overheat.
    Cons
    • - On the MacBook Pro 2022, the disk intermittently falls off with the message "The disk was not ejected correctly." Appears when the macbook is running on battery power. I don’t know whether the disk suddenly lacks power, or some kind of hardware and software incompatibility, but this behavior does not please. I tried to change the cables - it doesn’t help (of course, I use only Thunderbolt-3 cables, I didn’t confuse it with regular USB-C). ADDITION: as a result, I disassembled the disk and found a severed SMD capacitor inside. I don’t know when disassembling it came off or even earlier, but perhaps this explains the spontaneous shutdowns of the disk during operation, which I wrote about above. That is, not a design flaw of the model, but simply a defective copy. - Samsung's disk encryption software is unsatisfactory. Installs its own low-level kernel extensions in MacOS, the quality of which is questionable. In principle, you can easily do without it and encrypt the disk using MacOS itself, but, unfortunately, the disk firmware can only be ated through this software. - It is also worth considering that the device only works with Thunderbolt-3 connectors, it cannot be connected to a computer with USB-C.

I'm a designer. I use it at work with a poppy, I store and open very heavy graphic files on it. Everything just flies! 10GB data transfer takes 10 seconds! It is convenient to work with graphic files in illustrator and photoshop directly from the disk - nothing is buggy and, again, everything flies. If you professionally work with a large amount of data and heavy files - this is what you need!

    Pros
    • Space transfer of data and the speed of work from the disk.
    Cons
    • Price

Feel free to buy, for such a price, the quality is simply amazing.

Very satisfied. I took it as a system disk on mac os. After the samsung t5 external drive model (a decent model - compared to idrive - space), the download speed increased by almost 2 times, according to tests by 3. I definitely recommend buying all iMac owners.

    Pros
    • High read and write speed, operating system boot speed
    Cons
    • I did not find how to make it work in Windows 7 and 10. Heats up in stress tests, but not much

DOES NOT WORK on brand new Macbook Pro 2018

DOES NOT WORK on brand new Macbook Pro 2018. Not detected, no display, no message/notification. Nothing shows up in disk utility, disconnected, reconnected, same thing. Was very happy to receive this overpriced toy but no luck. Very disappointed with the quality of the product, for this money it had to be tested 3 times before release.

CRAZY FAST! good for data storage

I'm not kidding. I cloned my daughter's 2017 MacBook Pro (MBP) in about 35 seconds. Then when I transferred it from this X5 to the new 2018 MBP. 34 seconds and he was in full swing. NOT SMELLY CHANCE! If you want top speed and have the money, look no further. Actually I ordered the OWC version before this X5. OWC comes with a permanently attached cable. Whereby this Samsung comes with a high-quality ThunderBolt 3 cable. Ready for work.

    • very expensive

Peep peep! Get out of the way USB-3, TB-3 is here!

super fast! Updated from Samsung T5 and very satisfied. To set it up as a Mac boot disk, you'll need to read Apple's instructions for formatting it as a GUID partition. In other words, there is an option; You just have to know how to get there! It's a bit pricey, but it's better than opening up your iMac to get a faster boot disk. For comparison I went back to T5 as the boot drive and the difference was shocking. Everything from photo/video editing to overall system responsiveness is faster…

    Doesn't work without software installation

I have two computers with Thunderbolt 3 ports, none of them recognized this drive. Apparently you need to install software for your Thunderbolt 3 port to work. I was surprised. I figured you could just plug this in and get it working. It's not like this. This drive only works with the Thunderbolt port. Does not work with USB connection. This means that the Thunderbolt port matters. The problem is that the Thunderbolt port for your laptop needs software to work. Finding the right software is not

died 10 days later. Terrible product

With regular safe use on my home iMac it died within the first 10 days. I used it for an important video editing project. We completed the project in 9 days. given to the customer. Then on the 10th day there is no connection. I've never come across a floppy disk, let alone take it anywhere. Just completely dead. Then they sent it for data recovery and after 5 weeks of waiting they couldn't recover a single file. Completely lost my video project. As for the drive, however, it was "a little"…

    They went to bed!

Having spent a few weeks with the Samsung X5 I can honestly say this drive is fantastic - it's the Lamborghini of portable storage. My workflow involves backing up a lot of data to a secondary location that we don't have network access to. Moving data back and forth (big batches of micro CT scans) was a pain, even with a decent 3 USB drive. Being able to take advantage of the PCI speeds you get through Thunderbolt saves me a lot every day Time. General thoughts on the device. Form Factor: The…

Fast drive but met your pre-purchase expectations

I recently bought a Samsung T5 - 1TB model and it's not a bad drive by any means but I've read reviews on the Samsung X5 and wanted to know if it would is as fast as people say. The X5 comes in a nice compact box and as you can see it's barely bigger than the T5 and easily fits in my hand. I didn't use synthetic benchmarking to test the speed of this drive because I don't think it reflects real-world performance. The laptop used has the following specifications: Laptop: Dell XPS 13 9370 (2018…

    Cons
    • Slightly torn

Used the SSD for about 3 weeks, the experience is excellent. First of all, the design of the hard drive looks very elegant (the sleekness comes from the fact that the SSD type is NVMe, which is much smaller than a regular 2.5mm drive, an NVMe SSD image is put on top attached to the iPhone X for size), which is good. as it easily fits in your pocket when needed. The color with black and red looks very nice and thoughtful, and several F1 cars have been found that partially resemble the X5 model…
