85 perfection - Lenses for SLR cameras

I really like this lens. I'm a prosumer and this lens is just awesome. I bought the Rokinon docking station and it's definitely worth it. This lens is fast, accurate, shoots wonderfully wide open, and has great bokeh. One downside (the only downside, to be honest) is that Lightroom doesn't have a lens correction profile. Definitely not the end of the world, but I wouldn't mind. I use R6 and it's my favorite lens.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

Good lens until it stopped working.

I was happy with this lens until it stopped working. About 3 months after buying the lens I suddenly realized that instead of an image I had a horrible f00 error. I decided to update my camera's firmware. This seemed to fix the problem for a few days before the f00 error returned. So I decided to order a USB dock to upgrade the lens. My computer has contacted the lens to update the firmware but I still have the f00 error. Samyang's customer service seems to consist entirely of an FAQ page…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Big and bulky

A must buy if you like being disappointed.

I have checked and read many reviews on this lens and am sure they will be well compensated for their positive feedback. Despite being one of the cheapest RF mount options out there, this poor autofocus lens isn't even worth $100. It struggles to focus on anything and unless you're in a 100% well-lit environment, you can totally forget about it. Also, the minimum focusing distance is not at all as advertised and I had to step back a few times to focus on subjects, then I was able to get closer…

I would like it better.

Based on the reviews I read and looked at, I really wanted to love this lens. One thing is for sure, this lens produces great images when in focus. I shoot with both the EOS R and R6 and with firmware updates to my camera bodies as well as the lens itself, when using Eye AF, the focus tends to miss quite a bit. The lens literally displays eye or face tracking, and some images are sharp and some aren't. If you don't move much, this lens is a great alternative to the more expensive RF 85 1.2…

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Built-in image stabilization in the new firmware! Ask for it!

Integrated image stabilization with R5/R6 is available in firmware version 3. Be sure to ask. Otherwise, you'll need a Lens Station to upgrade, which costs $60. Or send it to New York City Customer Service for $20 return shipping. Pros: 1. Image distortion, also known as pincushion, is very low.2. Fast and somewhat quiet focusing. This is an ultrasonic motor that's fairly quiet and as fast as Canon RF lenses. But when focusing, it makes a faint click. Don't bother me.3. The sharpness in the…

Great lens for RF mount! Very important! Image quality is excellent!

I really want a Canon RF 85 1.2L but this lens costs almost 3,000 and is hard to justify for business now during the pandemic. So I bought this lens and tried it and I was surprised at how good it really is. It's not as sharp as my RF 50 1.2L, but not as expensive either. I think it's sharp enough. It's really more to my satisfaction, the customers really can't tell what lens I use, they like the pictures with whatever lenses I use haha. instead of heavy lenses. Congratulations to Samyang for a

Outstanding IQ and autofocus on the R5

Like most of you reading this, I just couldn't pay $2699 for a Canon RF 85mm f1.2. I'm sure it's amazing as other RF lenses are exactly the same. I started reading and came across Samyang. The reviews have all been good, but I'm always suspicious of rave reviews for brands I've never heard of. For example about Samyang. Revain has a great returns policy so I decided to give it a try. I picked it up in the evening of the same day I received it and took some twilight/evening shots in the Delmar…
